I agree, except I would say "way" out of control. They're meaningless now because (1) there are too many of them to keep track of the "valid" charitable ones, especially since you can't really read what they say unless you get too close for comfort, and (2) there are so many non-charitable ones that the value of the symbol is heavily diluted.
