GCrs, please lift me up in prayer. I don't want to get too specific, but I just lift me up in general.

				Prayers and Advice needed

			SF, and Greek members:

My younger sister stephanie is going to need amputation. she has gangrene in parts of her hands and feet i believe partly do to a blood disease that we are not sure how she got it. my sister has ulcerative colitis and primary scholerosing cholangitis. these are diseases that affect her digestive system. most recently she had a port placed in. with that surgery there was risk of infection and her doctor here recommended that she not have it. she was able to get a second opinion and had the surgery.

the psychological affects will be immeasurable; this i can handle having had personal and familial experience with depressive disoders. what i am asking is tri-fold:

any scriptures that may be comforting to her. any books or writings that may help her. my sister tends to wallow in self pity and at some point i want her to be able to work through that.

those who are in patient care, rehabilitation or anyone who has experience dealing with amputees, from a medical standpoint, what type of blood disorders can cause gangrene or excessive clotting of the blood. what i am having trouble with is the fact that my sister was in the hospital for 2 months. she was in a bed so why was there appropriate treatment to keep her circulation at an acceptable level?

lastly, for the attorneys and law students, what legal issues will my familly have to look at?

fyi, i am ok. im sad for my sister but right now i am thinking of my mother and how she is going to make this a drama filled situation doing more harm than good. ive had to correct her more than twice on my role in the family relative to my sister. so right now im on the defensive.

any and all help is appreciated.

BTW: she was at the Univ. of MD hospital and most recently at Johns Hopkins.

			Oh Darling1,

Your sister is definitely in my prayers. I can't offer any scripture, but I can say that when my daughter was diagnosed with MS we took the "let's be thankful it isn't xyz approach." In other words let's be thankful that it wasn't ovarian cancer or a brain tumor--all things the had tested for before they reached a diagnosis.

ETA: After reading more in SF, I realized the above sounds kinda lame. I think the improtant thing for you to do is to continue to comfort your sister.

Continue any research into her conditions and glean anything hopeful to pass along to her. As stated in SF, get your questions answered my the staff. Sometime medical staff can be reticent to answer questions, but keep pushing until you are statisfied The more you know, the better you will be in passing along reassurance to your sister.

Is Ava allowed to visit? I'll sure that sweetie puts a smile on her face.

My mother had a heart attack and open heart surgery last week. Praise God that she is doing well. I want to request prayers for her continued recovery.

Difficult time, and I'm trying to remain strong.

			Hi ladies,

On Friday, I'm going in for a CT scan. During my regular yearly exam, my doctor found "something" in my abdomen after an x-ray, still can't tell what it is. She doesn't know if its a tumor (or cancerous), a fibroid, or what, so please join me in prayer for not only peace concerning this situation, but also for healing as well.

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" II Cor 4:16-18

Remember, faithful ones, regardless as to the chaos that may be unfolding before our eyes, the tears, the uncertainity of it all, our Father is working RIGHT NOW - through the situations that we are currently facing. There is a blessing in everything that happens for His words tells us that "all things work together for good for those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose". No earthly event catches Him off guard. There is nothing He can't use for His glory - which is what happens when we perservere, when we stand strong.

May these verse help everyone....

1Peter 1:7 So be glad about this, even though it may now be necessary for you to be sad for a while because of the many kinds of trials you suffer. Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine.

1Peter 5:10 Now the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will personally restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little

James 5:11 See, we count as blessed those who have endured. You have heard of Job's endurance and have seen the outcome from the Lord: the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.

2Cor 12:10 not only this I take pleasure in weaknesses, in injuries, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

I have already claimed that it is just a fibroid.

Thank you everyone that offered prayers for my situation. I found out today that it is indeed two fibroids. Praise Jesus that it isn't anything more serious.

And for those that may still be waiting, remember, our Father is ALWAYS right on time with His peace, comfort, and answers.

Please pray for the families of 3 University of Illinois alumni who passed in a car accident early Sunday morning (about 5 AM). They were driving back to the city after visiting the campus for the weekend when their car crossed the median and crashed with a pick up truck. One of the passengers in the pick up passed away as well, so please remember their family too. This was such a wake up call to me b/c the victims were soo young. They all just graduated btwn May 2003 - Dec 2004. One of the young men attended HS w/me as well as U of I, and I just can't believe that's he's gone. I can't believe that any of them are gone.
