More Prayer Requests

Please keep one of our own GCers in your prayers. This person has a very serious decision to make. Please pray that this person is able to make the best decision possible.

This morning at church, I found out that one of our church members had a massive stroke. What really hurts me is that I had been with this lady all last week in bible school joking, talking, laughing, having a great time. We were talking all about her future plans etc.

Last time I saw her was thursday when we were talking bout her trip that she was going on Friday. Saturday she had the stroke. The family was on the trip when she had this massive stroke and it's really getting to me because I just saw her smiling face and cannot get it out of my mind. Also I told her I will see her in two weeks and now it does not look like it. She is brain dead and on a resperator (sp?) and the doctors say that it is likely she will pass.

Her and her daughter are really close and she is not doing too good also.

Prayer for strength

One of my friends/soror just learned that she is adopted. She is so overwhelmed right now. Please pray that her friends and her husband can be strong for her as she searches for answers and outlets. Last night, I was so distraught after she revealed this. I cannot imagine what she is going through. I could not even fathom what it would be like to learn that at almost 30 years of age, the mother and father that you knew were not your biological parents.

:(

I will keep both families in my prayers.

About three weeks ago, my grandmother was a victim of a home invasion. Three to four gunman held my grandmother at gun point and basically destroyed her house. Most of my things were taken and to this day, it is still hard for me to sleep at night.

I do thank God that those ignorant bastards did not hurt her. But my grandmother just lost her youngest son less than one year ago.

So I ask that you continue to support and pray for people in need or going through hard times because it means a lot. Not to mention, you never know when you will need someone to pray for you.

Pray for my nephew and his family

I learned that my nephew's father was found dead in his car over the weekend. He was only 55. I haven't seen him since I was in college, and he and my sister didn't get along very well, but I still feel a connection and a great deal of sadness.

would like to ask all of the believers of GreekChat to please pray for my mother. I posted about her situation some time ago, but we are in need of prayer once again.

To give you a short recap of a very long saga, my mother went into the hospital on December 11, 2003 to have heart valve replacement surgery. There were complications after the surgery and she has been in one hospital or another every since. She has been ventilator dependant most of that time (there was a period of about 9 days where she was not on the ventilator). For the last several months she has been plauged with bacterial and fungal infections in her blood and her lungs. These infections cause her blood pressure to lower and her temp to spike as high as 104. She has been on several different antibotics, but the infections continue to come back. To complicate matters, her kidneys failed shortly after the surgery and she has been on dialysis. Because of her low blood pressure they have not been able to effectively dialyize her for over a week. The doctors have indicated that the infections have attacted them selves to her heart valves and that only removing the valves would correct that. Because of her weakened state surgery is not an option, so the doctors say there is really nothing more that they can do for her.

I know that God is a healer, but it is HIS choice where he heals her--on this side of the earth, or by taking her home with him. In my selfishness, I don't want her to go, but I know that his will must be done. What makes this extra hard is that my mother's grandchildren--my only sister's children--other grandmother passed away about 3 weeks ago suddenly. They are extremely close to both grandmothers, and I would hate for them to have to go through another funeral so soon.

As you can imagine, this is difficult for my entire family. Please pray for peace, for healing, for her doctors and nurses and that through this all that God gets the glory!

Update...
They took my church member of the respirator and the doctors are still saying she could pass at any time. But they say that if she makes it through that her brain functions are badly damaged. She might not have the ability to walk, talk, take care of herself. So it's hard because, you want her to live, but what is her functioning level going to be, but then you don't want her to die also. So I just pray and remember God has his plan in mind and what ever it is, it's done for a reason.

Update

It was a heavy heart that I tell you all that the Lord called my mother home yesterday, August 25th around 4:18 in the afternoon. It is with great JOY that I tell you she is now completely HEALED of all of her earthly ailments. My father, sister and I, along with my pastor and another church member/friend were with her has she took her last breath. We held her hands and prayed and sang her in. My mother looked intently off into the distance and seemed to be focusing on something. Before she took her last 2 breaths she distinctly smiled and everyone in the room laughed. She was happy to go home and rest in Jesus' arms.

My church member said that you can be prepared for death, but you are never prepared for the grief. I think this is so true. I praise GOD for allowing us the 8 months of my mother's hospitalization to allow us to say somethings that should have been said before. I always told my mother I loved her, and she me, but I rarely went into great detail about WHY I loved her. How I appreciated her sacrifice and her perserverence over the years. How she displayed her unconditional love for me.

The next few days will probably be the hardest I have ever faced. I ask that you continue to pray for my family. We will be leaving Atlanta shortly to return to my hometown where her funeral will be. She will be buried in her hometown near her mother, father, three brothers and sister. My parents did not have a computer, so I won't have access to the internet unless I am at my sister's house, but I know I will be able to feel your prayers lifting me up.

For those of you who don't know, my mother was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She celebrated her 25th year in the sorority earlier this month. Her sorority sisters were wonderful during her entire illness even though she was almost 200 miles away from them. The card, notes and phone calls were such a joy to us. They have asked to conduct a ceremony, and I know my mother will be tickled pink.

Eclipse,
Your words are a true testament to your mother. Your witness, in the midst of your hurt, is among the strongest I've ever seen. May God continue to bless you and your family, as your mom walks with the angels.
