Advertising has a history of doing this to "us". Back in the day it happened to Naomi Campbell who was supposed to have a cover (Vogue I think, this was just on her recent episode of Lifetime's Intimate Portrait) AND she did...the inside.
It happened to Tyra Banks too. The first time she was featured on the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
Unfortunately, magazines claim that they do not sell as many issues when a person of color appears on the front. Its all about the $$$$$
