I still need to see Shrek 3, so maybe I will try to time it and and ask the theatre staff if I can see the "end" of Pirates 3, to see the ending's bonus scene and then go to my proper theatre to watch Shrek 3. I think I have my movie stub as proof that I was just there to watch Pirates 3.

The bonus scene took place 10 years later. A boy, about 9 is singing "yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me" (I think it was that one or it was the song "hoist the colors" (via the beginning of the movie)). Then Elizabeth shows up behind the boy, so you know that that is her son. They are standing on a cliff looking out towards the ocean. Then you see the ocean and the flash of green, so you know Will is back. Then you see Will standing on top of the mast of the flying duchman (much like Jack did earlier in the movie on the Black Pearl) and the movie endsl.

I liked the movie & it definitely redeemed the 2nd one. What I didn't care for was the Will & Elizabeth ending b/c to me, there's no real resolution there. She basically sits around waiting every 10 years for his return. That didn't make sense to me.
Still, I loved seeing more Jack in this movie & I look forward to more Jack & Capt. Barbossa b/c I love him in the movies as well.

I prefer to assume that she's been raising her boy at sea for the past 10 years and only comes back to meet Will She is the Pirate King after all...

That does make much more sense. A fan fiction online actually had Elizabeth go off with Jack and find the fountain of youth. LOL. But I can much more see Elizabeth staying on the sea's than staying on land.
Plus, if she stays at sea wouldn't she have a better chance of seeing Will or is it that he only comes back to the "locker" every 10 years?

Yeah it goes both ways. If you want Elizabeth to be an adventurer, you can think of her as such. If you prefer the point of view that she did all of that pirate stuff so that she could be with Will, save Jack since she killed him, help Will help his father, etc. then you can see her living quite comfortably for once.
As for the second bit it's hard to say. He can only touch land every 10 years, however it's not clear that she could never be on board the Dutchman or he on another ship. Davy Jones wasn't doing his duty of ferrying the dead to the afterlife (which is not necessarily the Locker, that's more of a private hell Jones used to hang on to people's souls.) So perhaps if he's actually doing his job, Will can't really spend much time amongst the living at sea.

Will's father made a mention about how she can't go where they are going so he has to make the most of his 1 day on land every 10 years.

Yeah, and I think that goes into the fact that Will's actually doing the job, instead of dicking around scaring people like Davy Jones was.

Is that why Davy Jones turned into a "monster?" I was very confused by the movie and probably missed a lot of details. I do remember Calypso telling somebody that "him was a man once." But I don't think I picked up on how he got the octopus face. Of course, I didn't even really understand the whole Calypso thing, so maybe I'm just completely clueless.

Yes, that's why he was all with the tentacles, as was everyone on board the ship. Will won't get all fishy and neither will the crew (I have to assume there are still sailors who are afraid to die who will crew his ship)
I think it was discussed when Jack was considering taking the job himself. He, or someone else, made some comment about not looking good with the tentacles.

Um..yea...Was I the only other one that didn't understand the Calypso thing at all? They had to sing the song at the start of the movie to get her to come back even though she was alreay there? And then what good did she do after they released her? She caused a big thunderstorm? I didn't understand her part very much? Anyone care to enlighten me?

The thing that I understood was that they were singing the song about Calypso to get the Breveren(sp?) to get together.
