I'm a huge fan of the Lenovos in general, although I'm not sure who is the target audience there either - it's presumably me, but I don't see it replacing my current travel setup (a Dell super-widescreen workstation laptop and a 12" ASUS mini). Sort of a "rock and a hard place" spot in the market maybe?
Still, when you combine that stuff with the iPad, there's definitely cool stuff on the horizon.

Amazon just blacklisted books published by Macmillan because they had made an agreement with Apple to sell their books on iTunes for a higher price. Huh? I would of thought amazon would love the fact that their prices are lower than iTunes.

Not sure how much experience amazon has with that battle but I remember apple fighting the record labels many times over the years with the initial opening of iTunes and the 9.99 album prices then later with them forcing the labels to sell their music drm free. This should be interesting. On another note, I wonder if amazon is worried about the ipad being a kindle killer. I WAS hell bent on buying a kindle dx later this year, but now I'm over it. I want the ipad instead

PiKA2001,
i have the kindle dx and love the fact that it is NOT touch. if you're really looking at an e-reader take another look at kindle, nook, etc. i think the technology behind e-readers (using e-ink, no backlight, etc) make them preferable to an ipad or similar device.

Very true, I hear that the e-ink format is not as stressful on the eyes as led lit screens, but I believe that the ipad can "grow" and expand via apps and software updates in ways that the amazon and sony e-book readers can't. Who knows with Apple, the second gen ipad might have a native e-ink application.

I looked at the Nook at B&N last night, I can tell you I was not impressed. It was not very responsive, and I don't like how it flashes black then goes back whenever you turn a page. I can imagine the iPad would be more responsive (if judging from my iPod touch).

I wanted to check that out, It was supposed to be the "kindle killer" when they announced it a few months back. Do you know how it compares to a Kindle?

I haven't actually *held* a Kindle and played around with it yet. I think they have one at like Best Buy that you can play around with (but I'm not sure) - I know Best Buy has the Sony one.
I just was not impressed with it at.all. I mean, I'd rather carry a book. It could be that the one they had out was a display one and people have been abusing it but I really doubt it (there were two out, live-in and I had different ones that we were holding, and we saw the same problems).

I didn't know bestbuy had kindles. I havent heard anything good about the Sony reader other than the fact it's the sleekest.

I feel like I was at a Best Buy mobile (one of the smaller stores you'd find in a mall) and they had the Sony reader, with a Kindle that you could compare it with.
But I'm not sure. It sure would be nice for those of us that are more cautious buyers if there were licensed retailers of the Kindle that could have a display out!

Double post, but it's been 2 hours, so I don't care.
CNN Money did a comparison between the iPad and Kindle. There hasn't been a Kindle killer yet, and I think if Amazon cuts the price of the Kindle there won't be one.
