I would've told her, "I'm definitely a good PERSON because any other one would tear your behind up. But it's people like you who make me want to act like one of "the others."

well this statement might not be ignant per se and of course is based off opinion, but i gotta say the reasoning behind it, to me, is just stupid

friend: aww look, there's a couple in the park getting married!!! oh wait, its a black man and a white woman. nevermind, that sh*t aint cute!!!

30 mins later...

friend: aww look, a black woman and a white man. now see, i dont have a problem with that. you GO girl!!!

me:

now i dont care if u dont like interracial relationships, but this whole "only when its a black woman/white man is it okay but not the other way around" exception is kinder dumb!

You're way too gracious. Her statements were ignorant as hell.

A couple nights ago, a (very pale) girl said "I was telling my roommate about how you know how just when to use your pretty white girl talk!"

My eternal soul prevents me from saying the words I wanted, so this had to suffice.

Why did this man not more than 30 minutes ago try to compliment me on my GOOD HAIR???? He for real sounded like he was trying to give me a genuine compliment. I went completely and totally silent and then...the lecture. We covered everything from "any healthy hair is good hair" to "devisiveness in the community" all the way up to "perpetuating the stereotype." Almost 3 straight minutes without even taking a breath. There will be no ignorance on my watch! Talkin' 'bout "good hair" in 2009, you musta lost your mind...

Tell me why I had this experience recently with a White woman? Somehow we got on the subject of my students' braids, and she says something like "You don't wear those because you have the good hair." When me and my co-worker looked at her like she had lost her ever-loving mind, she says "That's what they call your kind of hair right? 'Good hair,'" all pleased with herself like she had the inside scoop. I tell ya...

Guilty as charged. I've had it thrown in my face too many times by white women about the fact they got one of mine to feel any differently. Not to mention the black men who act like I am not in the room while parading around with a white woman on his arm. On the other hand a white man has never thrown it up in my face that he got one of us. In fact what they have shown is that Black women are beautiful.

Not to mention how a lot of black men have lowered their physical standards to obtain a nonblack woman (i.e. the ignorant phrase "she's pretty for a white woman"), chased after nonblack women because they thought they had "better personalities," and/or have been quick to abandon black women for nonblack women who have traits that have been celebrated in black women for generations (i.e. black men marveling over nonblack women with round butts, even if the butts are silicone).

At the same time, white men in general have a history of oversexualizing black women and acting like black women are their tour guides through the lustful jungles of Africa or a nonstop Soul Train. But that goes for how a lot of white people act when they befriend black people.

Her friend's comments were still ignorant to me. LOL

Humble: I noticed that, too. My cousin has a HUGE problem with black men/white women, but is open to marrying a white man. I don't get it either, but I have my theories. That would make a great thread if there's not one already.

My best friend text messaged me right before Thanksgiving break and said that her teacher was reading his lecture notes off of a napkin. WOW.
