Go on and keep the name Boo. You're right, there's nothing wrong with it. Clearly these people on GC really have no clue what they're talking about. I'm new to GC so I do. What do you expect? They've been on GC for years! They've clearly lost their damn minds. Oh and make sure you let us know what college you end up going to so we can hook you up with a member of Omega Psi Phi. They will realize just how proud you are to be a future member of their beloved organization!

.. Yeah. I didnt know that.
But now that I do.. I see why people are giving him a hard time. And I agree, he should change it. No one can see the future.

Also, it is possible you may change your mind, and be interested in another fraternity once you actually get to college. Stranger things have happened.
It is in your best interest to change your name.

Nobody is ever a "future ABC".
In NPC terminology, you are:
- a potential new member (PNM) if you are eligible for / participating in recruitment
- a new member if you've pledged but not initiated (i.e. a "new member of ABC" - depending on the sorority, you will be extended certain privileges as a new member, but you still might not be initiated)
- a sister if you're initiated (i.e. a "sister of ABC")
In NPHC terminology (this is my understanding as an outsider), you are:
- a rushee if you are participating in rush
- on line if you've pledged but not initiated (i.e. not a member yet, and you still might not be initiated, so "future ABC" is still incorrect)
- a soror or frater if you're initiated (then and only then can you call yourself an ABC)
(NPHC folks, please correct me if I'm wrong.)
In any case............... virtual margaritas and popcorn for all

In NPHC terminology (this is my understanding as an outsider), you are:
|
- an interest or potential if attending a mixer or rush activity. It is understood by everyone you have done your research and are using discretion
- Prospective candidate that is ONLY known between you and your chosen organization--meaning you have submitted your paperwork and are currently having your application reviewed (Future "abc" is still incorrect--you may still NOT be extended an invitation to join...)
- a soror or brother if you are formally initiated, meaning that HQ KNOWS you have undergone a formal process and you have legitimately received notice that you are a full member. We can tell when one has not...
(NPHC folks, please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Right now, I would say you have the same problem as a cute little gerbil swimming in an aquarium with a school of hungry Piranha.
Saving Act II popcorn for the event to unfold. lol

each stage is probably named a little different in each org., but the concept is basically the same.

Yeah, how about all the time at NPHC meetings and conferences.
And of course, "Frat" is short for "frater."

^^^ We were probably posting at the same time, but yes, Frat is generally between members of the same organization and Frater is generally used in official NPHC settings.
But we can and do use Frater more formally, and did much more so in the past.
