Where ARE those Billy Goats Gruff when you need them?

When Doves Cry 12-05-2007 07:13 PM

.. I don't get it. What's so bad about your username?

Drolefille 12-05-2007 07:13 PM

Look, it assumes that you will become a member of an organization that may or may not want you as a member. In fact, it is presumptuous and can often influence people to NOT want you as a member. You're using a term that is, though not actually letters, reserved for members only. You're not a member. Other posters have had the same thing happen to them before. And there is a REASON why you're not getting the replies you want.

Why is this difficult?

He is already declaring himself a future member of a particular fraternity.
CHANGE YOUR SCREEN NAME

I know I called him out on it here, and if I'm not mistaken, someone else also did in the other thread he started.

FWIW, he's still in high school. Let the members at Southern University handle him.

So if someone came on here with a FutureAlphaXiDelta username, that wouldn't raise an eyebrow?

I remember Future GPhiB did. Members told her to change it.

I'll assume she (meaning WhenDovesCry) doesn't know that Q-dog is a nickname for Omega Psi Phi.

I can't help but think Sigma Kappa every time I see "Doves" in her username.

That and SydneyK always makes me look twice. :p

PrettyBoy 12-05-2007 08:24 PM

I'm trippin' off of this joker. He's parading all over GC responding to threads and everything, with "future-QDog as his screen name. LOL.:D

Look, you came here looking for information....and you're getting it. There are MANY people here who are older than you and already in fraternities and sororities who are telling you that your username is inappropriate. Take the advice and change it.

I obviously can't speak for the gentlemen of Omega Psi Phi, but if someone came on here with the user name "futureKDee" (which would indicate my sorority) I would be annoyed and ask her politely to change her username. It's presumptuous. If she refused to change it and started getting belligerent about it, I'd start thinking about ways to make sure she never became a KD.

Show some respect. Admiring an organization is fine but don't assume you're going to be accepted by them.
