Well you could be released from all the Chapters and then you are done with recruitment. Yes, sorority recruitment is usually mandatory for all Chapter members.

When I was in school the only reason a sister would be excused was if she had a MAJOR conflict such as she was in the band or ROTC, or she was taking summer classes at another school and they ended after recruitment. Or a summer co-op or internship that wasn't over before recruitment. Just a regular job though was not an valid excuse.
