No, because after pref is the only time that women get the chance to "cut" chapters, by not listing them. Unless you mean sabotage her parties...? That'd be a risky maneuver.

By acting horribly at most of her 3rd round parties, and nice at her favorite? That's a risky strategy...word gets around, and she very well might end up with nothing.

No because someone will invite her and that means she'd have to list both and she may end up with the one she didn't really want. No, you can't play it like that and be successful.

I was surprised to learn though that basically, if I've understood the last few posts correctly, that if your campus using RFM that it also has guaranteed placement because I thought you could have one without the other.
When I looked at the UGA recruitment guide, they still mention "mismatch" for when girls who pref go bidless, but maybe this can only happen to girls who don't maximize their options on the bid card. Or maybe the just haven't update the glossary in The Pointer.

You and I are on the same wavelength. To me, RFM is simply a tool to give rushees a more realistic idea of where they could receive a bid. The way we're talking about it here almost makes it seem like the chapters with the best return rates have to make their decisions on day one of rush.

If the chapters with high return rates don't make their decisions early, then there will be PNMs without invites at later parties because the more realistic Chapters had dropped off their radar as the number of parties decreased each round.

They have a set number they can invite back and it's based on their historical acceptances. So a top group may have to release 30% on the first invitational. It's pretty heavy numbers for some groups. You can't include someone you really don't want when this is the case. And it's the whole point of RFM. Every group could have a different number to invite to each round.

I'm betting this. With the exception of new pictures, the 2014 Pointer looks remarkably like my 1993 Pointer. Which, yes, I still have.

Yeah, it looks quite a bit like the 2001 Pointer...

Really only guaranteed placement NOT going hand in hand with RFM is at Indiana which should never be included in discussions of this subject.
They shouldn't use any terms like mismatch. The only time that happens is if a girl doesn't maximize her options- writes down fewer than all of the chapters at which she attended a preference party. SIP, suicide, any of those terms, is so charged with controversy that they're (badly) trying to find another way to explain it. But I think girls SAY they got cross-cut or a bunch of other words to describe things that aren't real because they don't want to admit they did something that stupid. They limited their choices and got screwed. And the day AFTER rush, that omg I couldn't possibly be in THAT chapter is just another house to everyone who is not Greek.

The reason RFM was put into place was for just ^^^ this reason. The girls would drop the less popular chapters early, get to just before preference and take a HUGE cut, and then attend preference parties and maybe not match anywhere because all the girls are at the same 3 preference parties.
So those top 3 chapters are required to make huge cuts after round 1 and the middle and lower chapters are given a chance to shine to girls who in previous years wouldn't have seen them after round 1. I think this is one of the big reasons behind the meteoric rise in sorority membership - girls are sticking with the program and finding different sororities to love. Even though there are still tiers, at a lot of schools even the least preferred are still making quota, which means the tiers don't mean anything once rush is over.
