The last paragraph of this article confuses me. Do they mean that all 16 chapters invited AA PNMs to pref, but the 21 AAs ended up with bids to 10 different chapters?

I guess that's what it means, but I didn't really like that much of membership selection being disclosed.

I'm happy with the results for sure, and I understand why they want to disclose this information to be able to make claims about progress in this area.

But I found a school official commenting publicly about bids that were extended but not claimed kind of a bad direction to move it if membership selection is actually private. (ETA: by bids extended, I guess I mean bids that would have been extended had bid matching worked differently. I assume that what was meant was that all 16 had AA PNMS on their bid lists but that the NMs matched elsewhere. I don't think that's information that should be publicly commented on if membership selection is private and up to the groups.)

1) We are pretty open around here about the fact that, in most cases, invite to pref = on bid list somewhere.

2) Equal access to the Greek System and accountability on that point is more important than your comfort in reading this article.

Equal access and accountability are very important, but officially and publicly commenting about who was on a group's bid list by an official outside the group is categorically a bad idea.

Agreed. And if a handful of actives hadn't been courageous enough last year to shed some light on what was really happening during MS, no one would've known the true extent of what was really going on at Alabama. When alums around the country caught wind of it, they weren't all up in arms about privacy being breached, but they were outraged at discrimination happening at one of their chapters.

Congrats to all the AA women who found their homes at Alabama this year!!

Just found out my rec girl that I had no worries on- is a new Delta Zeta! I have scoured the bid list and do not see my grade risk PNM-- I do not know whether she withdrew or was released as I haven't heard from her since Wed. morning.

CONGRATS to all Girls! (and their rec writers :-) )

What do you mean? If it's about minority PNMs, someone posted a link above to an article that states that all 21 African Americans who registered received bids and many other minorities (like 150+ I think) also received bids.

My OP was asking how long it would take for the race convo to make the news, but hadn't seen the article link before I posted.

In my first experience writing refs, one went Pi Phi, and the other three aren't on the list, sadly.

I think what they mean is all groups had them on their bid list and they matched to 10 of the 16.
