He "crashed" your sorority formal? That doesn't strike you as a little uhm . . odd? I don't know anyone I would consider well mannered, or even socially aware do that.

Doesn't that strike anyone else as totally inappropriate?

Thanks everyone for all your advice and responses!

So, we get to my formal last night, and he shows up! FYI, our formal is not in the town of where we go to college, so him and his friend "happen" to be in the same town we are last night, so they just decide to "drop by" for a little bit. Well...four hours later they decided to leave.

It made me completely uncomfortable since I had a wonderful date and I decided to have the time of my life last night and not worry about him. He came up to me and talked for a few minutes, but then my lil sis grabbed my hand and pulled me on the dance floor. We probably spoke all of five minutes total, and then he just sat there with his friend and a couple of my sorority sisters and just watched me dance.

I've just decided that I'm not going to worry about him. There are way too many other guys here on campus and if it's meant to work out, then I know it will. Like one of you said earlier, he should be the one to make the initiative and call me if he wants to talk. I feel like I am a very confident person and since I do have a lot of stuff going on, I don't have the time or energy to put up with his wishy-washy drama!

I agree with James. It is bizarre. Like, don't people have to PAY for formal? It seems like somebody should have asked them to leave.

I feel like it doesn't even matter..... he dumped her because they were "moving too fast" when it didn't sound like she was being pushy or anything like that - end of story. It doesn't really matter what his true motivations were. Is this really someone she should be trying to date anyway? Maybe he's got commitment issues. Or if he is honestly too intimidated by her schedule, well that doesn't make him look like such a catch, either.

I would tend to agree with RUGreek's advice especially since the boy in question is 20-21 years old.... they are pretty notoriously flaky about committed relationships!

I think you are totally doing the right thing by just having fun and moving on. Unless he comes to you and says something to the effect of, "breaking up with you was a big mistake and I want to be your boyfriend blah blah blah"- and backs it up with consistent behavior for the next long while- then you don't need to even give him a second thought.

And I think it is very weird that he showed up at your formal when you were with another guy. It's good you didn't talk to him for very long.

Dude, we had guest lists at our formals, complete with bouncers checking IDs -- there's no way you'd be able to crash.

I agree -- sketchy.

The only time we allowed people to crash our parties was if it was at the Golden Key and they were the blind, one-legged bouncers townie friends.

Why would you even want to just crash a sorority formal. It's like walking into a room full of girls and screaming "I'm a tool! Fear me!"

That's part of their contract stipulation- they'll only rent out the bar if the regulars can still be there. We had a party there last weekend.

I loved that bar! we had at least one party there every year. It was so much fun to sit and talk to the townies.

Very stupid and stalker-like on his part. That right there should sum it all up as to the type of person he is. Definitely not a wise choice for a relationship where you'll be busy. He'll call, invade your privacy again and again, lose this tool...
