I rushed nearly 30 years ago and our parties were in this ballpark of formal. We didn't have tables like that, nowhere to put them, but everything was draped and lit. Oooh lala. And the chocolate fountain! Had to have the chocolate fountain. But being a VERY old chapter, we also had a super fancy crystal punch bowl and those little cups from about 1940 that made it seem VERY historical. But the biggest thing was the BAM! serious. Everything through rush was light, friendly, funny and then the whiplash to sweet and tearful. I think that's part of why preference freaks girls out so much and can so completely change their mind about a chapter.
