It's a little more nuanced than that.
National groups have GPA requirements. I *think* this is public information for every group. However, some chapters also publish their own requirements, and these have to be at least as high as the national requirement.
Sometimes, the actual requirements are in reality much higher than what is published. Other times, those requirements are bent for an exceptional PNM or extenuating circumstances.
So, we can talk about 1) what is published and 2) what is generally required to pledge, but nobody can know the absolute rules for groups other than their own.

Makes sense, thanks.
Delta has National gpa requirements and there are colleges and universities that have increased the requirements for their own purposes. This is publicized. If a Delta chapter has unofficial and unpublicized requirements, that is something that can vary and is not shared with everyone.

The other issue is whether you would be comfortable stating that, as a supposed authority, the XYZ chapter of Delta has a higher GPA requirement, as does ZPhiB and SGRho at the same institution.
ETA: Even if you could make the statement that you personally knew 6 XYZ aspirants and three with lower than 3.0s did not get in, while the three with higher than 3.0s did, unless you were in the membership selection room, you don't know for sure that GPA was the reason. There could have been another common denominator....or maybe a variety of reasons that had nothing to do with GPA.

I would neither state that for my own collegiate chapter's undocumented requirements nor those of another Delta chapter's, let alone those of Zeta and SGRho.

I think this is worth quoting. I wrote for a darling girl a couple of years ago who probably didn't make minimum GPA for my group on that campus (and I don't know what that is because I didn't go there, but am guessing it was higher than what she had). She had the unfortunate circumstance of having lost a family member her sophomore year of HS. Completely unexpected. She went to a super competitive private HS, and flat out tanked that year. However, in looking at her grades, she slowly picked herself up and kept going. Not great overall, but finished as strong as she could. Darling girl, great extra-curriculars, etc... Had a wonderful rush & got what she wanted even though she probably didn't have the "right" GPA. Everyone knew the story & cut her slack for that.
Point being...there are no hard and fast rules in the world of NPC recruitment!

So true. Exceptions are sometimes made.
