I think an organization that ignores their stated purpose is fake. A real organization is true to the core values established by their founders. Well APO's cardinal principles are leadership, friendship and service, as well as having an open motto stating "be a friend, be a leader, be of service" so I don't see how taking up some of the mannerisms of an NPHC is violating that.
