In fact the nursing home even encouraged the family to buy great-grandma a vibrator because she was using other items to satisfy herself and they were afraid she would injure herself. My father-in-law was mortified at the thought, but did have my brother-in-law go buy one for her.

For real. I thought it was a joke when my mother-in-law was telling me the story- but it is completely real. Great-Grandma has dementia and apparently on that floor at least, "dancing with oneself" is not uncommon.

So her little friend was placed in her side table, and when she is acting like she needs it, the staff will remind her where it is.
