Golden Globes?
Did anyone watch it? I'm usually all about this awards ceremony but I was visiting a friend and we forgot it was on... so what happened? Anything scandalous?
I read over the winnes and I am so glad that Chris Cooper won for Adaptation. I thought he did a great job. Talk about disappearing into a character.
Anyone else have a favorite winner? OR someone you think we robbed?

I only caught the end of the show but was able to catch the Red Carpet style thing with Joan Rivers on rerun yesterday when I was home sick from work. The only thing scandalous was Laura Flynn Boyle's HORRIBLE ballerina dress.

I think the Golden Globe Awards is the least fun of all the award shows. The only part I enjoyed was when Renee Zelwegger won.

Are the Golden Globes directed towards an older crowd? Some of the movies that were there, well they were mostly all the same, but they seemed like they were for an older crowd. I was really bored by them, and disappointed that I stayed home to watch.

In a way they actually are geared towards an older crowd (and those interested in "the arts.") The Golden Globe Awards are presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association which is made up of entertainment journalists from all over the world. As such, they generally tend to appreciate and honor films and television programs that are more on the artistic side and less commercial--things that tend to "push the envelope a bit".
Even though the Golden Globes are seen as a general predictor of who and what will be nominated at the Academy Awards, the show is always more sedate.
Hope that answered your question, PM_Mama.
*I agree with ladybug...........the tutu was ridiculous! (Although it did give some spark to a pretty boring show!)

Jennifer Anniston looked like she'd gotten a new nose - I don't know what it was about her face, but the way her hair was pulled back and her ears were stcking out, she looked kinda like a monkey.

lol!
Lara Flynn Boyle's dress was ridiculous. Edie Falco's hair was bad. Bono said the F word.
Martin Scorsese won! I'm not really sure if I liked "Gangs of New York" though. He should have won an Oscar for "Goodfellas" instead of Kevin Costner for "Dances with Wolves" in 1991.

Too bad it was a dull show this year. The Golden Globes has an open bar and it traditionally makes the audience a little... spunkier. People are a lot looser than at the Oscars and usually someone will do something ridiculous.
I agree, the Golden Globes seems to be geared towards movies and television shows that "push the envelope." I like to use it as a barometer for what is worth seeing. Who gets lots of nominations, who wins, etc. So now I know I have to see Chicago! I already saw Adaptation and knew it was good so it was cool to see them get nominations and two wins.

The best part of the whole show was Larry David's acceptance speech where he thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press because his wife would have to put out that night. He said that the only way he gets any is when he wins an award. LOL!
My eyes are still burning from the sight of Lara Flynn Boyle's dress.

The tutu - WTF?
I was upset that Rene Zellweger won, actually. I think Catherine Zeta-Jones should have. I am in the dance/theatre business, and Catherine FAR outdid her co-stars. Her singing was great, she was perfect in the character, and her dancing was wonderful - she was holding her own in the scenes with the dancers from the actual Broadway show. I mean, Rene did fine, but I just think if you are going to nominate people for a triple threat role (dancing, singing, acting), then you need to take into account all three variables when deciding who did the better job. And in the case of Chicago, it was hands down Catherine Zeta-Jones.
