Wow. 8 to 3 is a pretty big change. If you get a full schedule, you have to drop 5 houses?

looking forward to your next post, eaglesbaby!
i'm new on GC and decided to join after reading a few of these amazing rush stories!!
it brings back all of the emotions of recruitment from last year! I can't wait to go through rush as an active come fall, even though my sisters say it's harder to do it on that side of rush than as a PNM. Still super excited, though!!
anyways, I love this rush story! GO STARFRUIT!!! <3 <3

I can't remember - have you mentioned what year you went through recruitment?

Yeah, and isn't it a coinky dink that we were just talking about changing numbers of groups in rounds in that IU thread?
OPhiA Ginger: according to this story, the "struggling/rebuilding" house is a local, so they can cut whoever and however many they want - the only numbers pressure they have is what they put on themselves. They don't have a national pressuring them to take any old thing with an ovary for the sake of quota/total.

I'm thinking that might be about right because the # of prefs is so limited.

And they even get to bring their purses into the houses. How cool is that?

I mean, it was a really pretty shade of pink but it was just a weird conversation. I excused myself to the bathroom for a few minutes, and who did I run into but Rachel, Marie's friend. It was a very unpleasant experience. In short, Rachel told me I was stupid for cutting Kiwi because they were the only house that would take me because I was such a skank, and that maybe if I was lucky Grape would give me a bid ( Grape is a very nice house, minus the fact that they are small, though many call it the reject house). I was speechless. I had no idea what to say, and I was secretly hoping an active happened to be in one of the stalls so she could hear how mean Rachel was, but alas...no. So I just politely told her to mind her own business, and then I got back to my party. The rest of the party went off without a hitch, and Rachel's words didn't hit me until I was outside the next house.

Right. I know that every school is differrent, but I know that my particular school strongly discouraged this. If it was during Day 1 or 2 where we all had our parties in the same building, the PXs had to indivdually escort PNMs to the restroom and that was only in case of an emergency (like you had a "female" problem or were going to be sick). Otherwise, PNMs were instructed to go between parties.

I don't usually read these stories, and this is one of the reasons. Two and a half weeks and she is only UP TO the third round? Srsly? I'm sure eaglesbaby will have lots more time to devote to the story that she was "dying to post" now that finals are approaching.

If you're going to say my story is fake, which it isn't, at least base your opinion on some credible fact. In my major, we are graded mostly on papers. This semester, I do not have a single test-based class, and as a result no finals. I did, however, have five papers that were all due last week and the week before. In essence, I've already had my finals week and don't really have much to do besides pack everything up and go home. Please don't insult me again with such a stupid, frivolous argument.
To everyone else who has stated arguments that are not ridiculous such as the bathroom rule and the fact that I was able to bring my purse into the house, did it ever occur to you that maybe my Panhellenic is not as strict as the ones that you have experienced? I'm not saying your
Panhellenics are unnecessarily strict. I do think that some of the protocol my Panhellenic calls for should be enforced more than it is, and many of the rules they set in place are ignored, or at least not taken seriously, by many sororities on campus.

To be fair, PJS didn't make an argument; she made a statement. And you gotta admit - to be on round 3 after 8 pages (and two and a half weeks) makes for a pretty slow read. Especially considering it's a retro story. Even a real-time story would've been complete by now.

It's obvious that your Panhellenic is not strict. That's part of the problem. It's so un-strict that it seems untrue.
I've refrained from commenting on this story so far because, like someone pointed out very early on (page one or two maybe), even if it's a complete fabrication, it still serves its purpose (which, I assume, is to entertain). Keep in mind, though, that good fiction novelists do their research and write from an educated pov. There are glaring errors from a Panhellenic pov that scream "Un-researched!" in this story. That's all I'm sayin'.
