I was in high school from 1989-1993.
Back in freshman (and maybe sophomore) year, straight hair was a no-no. If you didn't have at least a body wave, you were toast. I have stick-straight hair, so my hairdresser was very happy with me... and my mother, who paid for all those body waves, wasn't.
Anyone else remember those ID# shirts where the fabric was the wrong side out? Those were big when I was in middle school.
Hoop earrings and door-knocker earrings were very popular. I had a few pairs of hoop earrings, but I stayed away from the door-knockers (they just looked painful). Multiple ear piercings were popular, but my parents restricted me to one hole per ear (and I had to fight them for permission to get even that).
