A few gems from he and co. :
" I don't understand where condoning assault on anyone, let alone a public official, makes any sense."
"And for those of you who said you wouldn't be upset if he died... you're retarded. "
"I agree completely. People who think this is funny are, IMO, way out of line."
"You certainly don't have to "feel sorry" for Bush but to say that you wouldn't be saddened if he died is FUCKED UP, "
NO!
It's called practicing my 1st Amendment right!
And nobody is trying to arrest you for it. The first amendment protects from the government suppressing your free speech, not from people calling you out for saying STUPID, CLASSLESS things.
All I am doing is talking about it!
Thats all that anyone is doing on here?
Jeni hit it on the head when she disagreed that all world leaders deserve respect.
If you don't like them...you don't like them.
And you sure as hell can't force someone to feel sorry for them if something happens.
Hell, if anyone is retarded it would be following along with the crowd in either aspect when you know deep down you feel differently!

The problem as I see it isn't that people have differing opinions regarding whether or not they like Bush, it's the differing opinions regarding how anyone who holds that office (whether they're liked or not) should be treated. The assault of a US President shouldn't be condoned by Americans. Ever.

Why is it a shame? You think Bush is blameless on what people think of him? If he doesn't respect the office and IMO he hasn't, they why do you think people around the world are doing the things that they do?
Maybe you need to peep his approval ratings.
And while you are busy being pissed at my cavalier comments about Bush, maybe you ought to peep this:
Iraq's reconstruction a 100-billion failure

Talk about a Bridge to Nowhere.....

How hypocritical is it to say that YOU have a right to disagree and then follow that up by saying that its ok to assault Bush because he disagrees with you?

You realize how ironic this statement is in light of your statements in this thread, right? You're the one who seems to be taking it the most personally here. Maybe you should take a step back and try to look at it objectively, or as objectively as possible.
No one is saying that it's wrong to disagree with a President, to express that disagreement to the President in the form of protests, etc. It crosses the line when you try to commit assault against that person. You have given lip-service to that point, but the majority of your comments make it seem that you think that the assault is ok, because you don't like President Bush. That's a pretty dangerous concept, in my mind.
Troops die under every President. It's terrible, but it happens. Chances are that troops will die under President Obama, either during the current conflicts, or conflicts that may arise during his presidency. Is it then ok for people to throw shoes at Obama? Again, what about people who lose jobs under an Obama presidency? Can they throw shoes at him? If they do, will he have brought that assault upon himself, as you claim Bush has done?

I saw an Iraqi official on either Today or the Early Show this morning who said that under the past regime, the man would receive the death penalty for assaulting a leader. However, he said that under current law, there is no law that addresses it, but he is sure that there will be soon.
