Granted, but since every action has an equal and opposite reaction, you shrink until you are virtually gone (unless you look under a microscope!)

Granted, but your teacher smells the bourbon, rips it out of your hands and falls off the wagon for the first time since joining AA 15 years ago. You feel embarrased and run out of the class in shame.

By the way, I don't think my parent's are embarrassed of Louisiana whether they should be or not!
