Seriously, if for some reason you matched with a group that wasn't worth it and you stuck with it through initiation and then disaffiliated [ETA: resigned membership]and went around telling people how lame and "not worth it" the group was, why would you assume that you'd even get a bid to a "better" and more "worth it" group? You seem like kind of a bad risk, frankly.

I'd just like to say that I think it's misleading to refer to this type of situation as "disaffiliation" or "disaffiliated." It may be technically correct, but "disaffiliation" is something recruitment counselors do to temporarily disassociate themselves from their sorority in order to serve in a neutral role during formal recruitment. The situations described in this thread should really be referred to as "termination of membership" or "resignation" which is obviously permanent.
