We overuse the term "accident" with reference to vehicles (most auto crashes had at least some fault that makes "accident" kind of misleading), but some things in life are just accidents or mistakes that, while having dire consequences, do not rise to the level of unlawful behavior or negligence.
Life happens. There is no need to shoehorn everything into a racial or anti-hypocritical context that may or may not exist - keep the triangular pegs in the triangular holes.
I'll even posit that attitudes like Jon's are kind of ironic - it's an overreaction meant to highlight an entity's tendency to overreact or get on the soapbox. Congratulations! Now you're a hypocrite too!
