Anyone who makes a prediction on the basis of which conference is "strongest" is nuts. "Strongest" is a moving target based on a lot of variables.
The BCS "Championship" game this year will pit two teams with the same record -- both of whom were ranked number one and were upset.
I just hope it's a game that lives up to the BCS hype.

Strongest is based on which conference's teams can beat comparable teams in other conferences. As the fan of a team who's rival is an SEC team, I can admit that the SEC is dominant.

Oh, you mean football? That was in 1986 (when we beat another team in FL) http://www.infoplease.com/ipsa/A0747059.html. Though many will still make the argument for a rightful share of the title in 1994 ( http://www.greatsportsrivalries.com/...champions.html).
And FSU's last one was in 1999. So? I posted the link in response to your calling Big 10 football "cupcake". You stop talking nonsense about Big 10 schools "not knowing" football and I'll stop reminding you of FSU losing to PSU in their home state of FL.
Man, and just as you were starting to grow on me the teeniest bit your last couple posts...

FSU hasn't been good since 2001 but we're going to be very good in the near future.

If you say so.
I don't think it's that easy.

Thanks for the laugh!
You're right - FSU hasn't been good since 2001. I couldn't disagree more, however, with the second half of your statement. FSU won't be good again until Bowden is gone, and I just don't see that happening any time soon. Also (and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this by someone), FSU has such a reputation for putting criminals on the playing field that I'm glad they haven't been doing well. And I'm glad to see so many players kept out of the bowl game for their part in the recent cheating scandal. Maybe this'll make them clean up their act a little.
But, back to the topic of the thread... I'd like to see LSU win the championship game but, like DA said, anything can happen.

I can see how someone who's on the outside looking in would think that, but its just simply not the case.

Ohio State 20
LSU 17
OSU's Chris Wells will have to have at least 20-25 carries, allowing the Buckeyes to control the clock in this game.
(either that or we could get LSU to wear Michigan jerseys, in which case we'd crush em 40-0)

Duh, we're all having fun with this, so no need to bring the obvious truth that anything can happen...
I'm going to go with LSU, 24-17. They'll be behind for most of the first half, but will take over just after halftime. The SEC IS a superior conference, after all.

OFFENSE - Per Game Average/ NCAA RANK
Total Yards
LSU 463.1 / 18th
OSU 405.4 / 61st
Passing Yards
LSU 244.2 / 53rd
OSU 204.8 / 95th
Rushing Yards
LSU 218.9 / 13th
OSU 200.7 / 22nd
Points Scored
LSU 38.7 / 13th
OSU 32.0 / 37th
Ohio State might be the first team to be crushed in consecutive national championship games...and by two different SEC teams.
i checked out Strength of Schedule stats @ http://teamrankings.com/ncf/27confratings.php3.
the algorithm they use ranks the SEC as the toughest SoS conference. also, OSU has a -0.064 and LSU has a .03. so those stats and NCAA rankings i posted don't mention that OSU got those mediocre ratings against weaker teams and in a weaker conference.
the fact that Ohio State is even in the national championship game again illustrates the demonstrable lack of compassion the BCS system has for the self-esteem of OSU's players and the entire Big Ten.
LSU 41
OSU 14

FH, I like you.
I was surprised at the way that the ACC performed against the SEC yesterday, half of FSU almost beat UK and Clemson hung with Auburn.

Kentucky Head Coach Rich Brooks' Post-Game Opening Statement: We find ways to make games entertaining. We’re always concerned about concession sales.
And for what it is worth, when people look back at the game, most will just remember that Kentucky won. Not that FSU had 36 players suspended for cheating etc.
As to the original question, I feel confident that Louisiana State will win. Just not sure by how much at this time.
