AZ-Alpha Xi is correct. Being a legacy does not guarantee that you will get a bid (invitation) to join the sorority (whether you go to your parent's school or elsewhere).

Every sorority has a different national GPA requirement. But each chapter can choose to set it higher than the national GPA requirement.

The Greek Life office at your school should have all of the info about each sororities' HS GPA requirements. I'd contact them.

Obviously I agree with the two answers above -- but I've always wondered if the legacy concept doesn't have at least a little more weight at the parent or relative's home chapter.

Seems to me that it would, but I have no experience to back that thought up.

I think if she was a chapter legacy it would definitely be known to the current chapter members, but once again, doesn't neccessarily mean they absolutely have to bid her.

All legacies have to go through the same recruitment process as the other pnms.

As far as the GPA goes, the higher your GPA is, the better - regardless of what the minimums are.

What no one has said is that most NPC groups have rules regarding legacies that require some type of extra consideration be given to legacies, but none require automatic bids to legacies. At many small schools, chapters love to give bids to their legacies (whether they are in house legacies or legacies from other chapters) , but at big schools with competitive rucruitment, legacies are too numerous to have much significance. Non competitive recruitments allow chapters to be more sentimental with legacies because it doesn't limit the diversity of the pledge class since usually only a few legacies (if any) go through each year. Read all of the stickied posts about recruitment...they'll really help you understand the process better.
