We didn't really do "families" we had bigs & littles and if you were around long enough, you might be a grand-big or even a great-grand-big, but we didn't have twins or cousins or anything like that. We did have one member transfer and affiliate with us, and she was given an honorary big, someone to be a point of contact for her.
We also had one member transfer out to another school and I know she was given an honorary big at that school to help her assimilate, but I don't see why once you affiliate with a new chapter you wouldn't be able to take a little- after all you are then a full fledged member of that chapter.
