Personally, I don't care what others' beliefs are, as long as they AREN'T hurting me or other people. I think the issue at hand here, with creation science (and some other Bible literalist/Christian fundamentalist beliefs and practices), is that they ARE hurting others, because many of the followers of these tenets are attempting to force them on others. Personally, I'm a big fan of separation of church and state (and IMO, state-sponsored education is included in that).
I see what all of y'all are saying, for sure...and for the record, I'm not a Creationist and don't necessarily agree with anything that they claim. I'd probably describe my own beliefs as more of the theistic evolutionary approach.

If the Creationists are causing problems for people and making their lives miserable....yeah, then I'd be pissed. But to say the things about them that RACooper did simply because of their beliefs.......I think that is pretty shitty.

Like protesting at Catholic universities telling all the students they are going to Hell?

I'm pretty big into live and let live, but sometimes I just wanted them to shut up and let me go to class instead of following me around telling me I worshipped the antiChrist.

Ooh wow. We were lucky then. We just had the Scientologists and the Jews for Jesus crowd. Funny though, my mom warned me about Opus Dei (after reading the Davinci Code) because they "hang around college campuses trying to recruit impressionable students." Never saw them though

Opus Dei did a piss-poor job then at my campus... their residence is next door to the chapter house and I don't ever recall them recuiting anyone "off the street"

Well this is a good Catholic guilting mother after all.

Actually we had more people trying to get us to help starving children or sign up for credit cards than anything. SLU was smart though and they owned 1/2 of the sidewalk and the city owned the other half. But I don't think they ever specified WHICH half each owned. SLU could kick pretty much anyone off the sidewalk by the school if necessary.
