I just want to clear something up here because I don't want any of our Philo members to be offended by this and I know that some of them are on greekchat. The Philo Club of Sigma Gamma Rho functions much like a sorority although they are not greek. These women have a long and illustrious history of supporting and assisting Sigma Gamma Rho in serving the community and they believe in our goals and mission. They have their own sisterhood, officers, by-laws, colors, theme, flower, etc. and head community service projects on their own, although they are under the advisement of the Sigma Gamma Rho grad chapters. These women do not have 4 year degrees and are not enrolled in 4 year college programs, but they are successful and accomplished in their own right. They are proud to be members of their sisterhood and just like us, many look forward to being active for a lifetime. These women are a part of our family and we don't see them as not being able to take part in the "real" thing.

A sisterhood such as the Philo Club could be a viable option for SOME non-traditional students. These women have more history and service under their belts than ANY of these new organizations, so please do the research before making misinformed statements.

This is all well and good, but being a Philo is merely settling for women who have it in their heart to actually BE an SGRho.

If any of the Philo women go to an SGRho and say "soror," they will be reminded that they aren't a duly initiated member but rather an affiliate member. If any of the women were to list SGRho as one of their organizational memberships, that would be a misrepresentation.

There's no substitute for the real thing.
