Not making light of the situation, but CNN online headline currently reads "VIGINIA MASSACRE"...I mean, if you're going to make a big bold headline, spell the state correctly.

They've changed it, I imagined they wouldn't let that go for long.

update: my brother says the phi psis he knows are fine, they haven't heard back about the whole chapter yet, but he hasn't heard anything back.

33...nothing could merit this reaction.

glad all those who have reported about chapters so far have confirmation their brothers and sisters are safe.

Delta Gammas are all safe, and so is the Tri-Delta chapter.

I'm still waiting to hear about several family friends. Virginia Tech is so close by; nearly half of my graduating class from high school attended Tech. While they have all graduated, many of them have siblings. This is just awful.

I have heard from other sisters that some pi phis were shot in norris hall, but are ok. I don't want to go too much into detail on this of course.

Emails have been getting passed back and forth between chapter members with various alum. Its all really still unfolding so more may come out. It makes me just terribly saddened that this could happen to my campus.

Just saw the update on our national website. I'm so glad they are safe and pray for the families of those injured or killed.

The AGD website states that all but one sister are accounted for but they believe that she is assisting with the rescue efforts.

ADPi still has sisters unaccounted for according to their national website.

Alpha Phi has accounted for all its members.

All TriDelta's and DG's are safe as well.

I've been worried about my Alpha Gam sisters as well as their families and those who were killed, wounded or otherwise affected.

Tonight my chapter is having the 1st ceremony for Initiation Week; we will be saying a special prayer for the Va. Tech campus.

It's my understanding the Kappas are also all safe and accounted for.

How horrible for Pi Beta Phi.

While saddened by this event and the toll taken, I heartened that to see that so far our Greek Brothers and Sisters are safe or in good hands.
School has a good sized GLO; hopefully they all have good news out of this tragedy.

But remember, as part of the greater population of the school, there is very little doubt that they will know some who were not as fortunate.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Thirty-three people, including the gunman, were killed at a Virginia university Monday in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history. At least 15 other people were injured, some of them as they leapt to safety from the fourth floor of a classroom building.
The shootings, which took place in two locations on campus, came just four days before the eighth anniversary of the Columbine High School bloodbath near Littleton, Colo. They created panic and confusion at the college, where students and employees angrily asked why the first e-mail warning did not go out to them until the gunman had struck a second time.

Officials: Gunman dead after bloody campus rampage

NEW: University officials say 33 dead, including gunman
• Four hospitals report 29 wounded
• Attacks mark deadliest school shooting in U.S. history
• Student describes situation as "mayhem"; says 2 students jumped from window

BLACKSBURG, Virginia (CNN) -- At least 33 people, including a gunman, were killed Monday during shootings in a dorm and a building housing classrooms at Virginia Tech, university officials said.
The death toll makes the incident the deadliest school attack in U.S. history.
Two people were killed at a dormitory about 7:15 a.m., while another 30 people were killed two hours later at Norris Hall, the engineering science and mechanics building, university officials said.
Though university police Chief Wendell Flinchum said police were still investigating whether the two incidents were related, he also said the gunman at Norris Hall took his own life. Investigators are not ruling out a second shooter, Flinchum said. (Watch the police chief explain where bodies were found)
"Norris Hall is a tragic and a sorrowful crime scene, and we are in the process of identifying victims," university President Charles Steger said.

Federal Officials: At Least 32 Dead After Virginia Tech University Shooting

Monday , April 16, 2007
By Liza Porteus

BLACKSBURG, Va. —
At least 32 people are confirmed dead and at least another 21 are wounded after a shooting at Virginia Tech University Monday morning, federal law enforcement officials told FOX News.

Campus police said there was only one shooter and he is now dead. They are unsure if the shooter was a student and it was unclear if he was shot by police or took his own life.
"The university was struck today with a tragedy of monumental proportions," Virginia Tech President Charles Steger said during a press conference shortly after noon. "The university is shocked and horrified that this would befall our campus ... I cannot begin to convey my own personal sense of loss over this senselessness of such an incomprehensible and heinous act."
It was the deadliest campus shooting in U.S. history.
