I've read the first one, and yeah, they would definitely be scary to a PNM. I had to laugh about how the sorority had infinite funds of money and a helicopter....sheeyah, right!

I've also read "Sorority Sisters", which is about a BGLO sorority. I also read a terrible "horror book" by RL Stine, or similar type of author, about these crazy things happening in a sorority, and it turned out that it was one of the pledges, who had MPD and whenever the "evil" personality would take over, she would do crazy things that made the girls feel threatened (chop up their clothes in the closet, etc.). I can't remember the name of the book as it was rather forgettable.

Somewhere on GC we have a really good thread about books about Greeks, including some quality literature. I'm sure I mentioned Heartbreak Hotel and a couple of other books by Anne Rivers Siddons, an Auburn Tri Delt alum.

Here is the link to the original thread.

BTW - Heartbreak Hotel by Anne Rivers Siddons was made into a movie "Heart of Dixie" with Ally Sheedy and Virginia Madsen. When it came out a Chi Omega friend and I went to see it. Great book, bad movie. We laughed at the girls snapping their fingers to show agreement during a chapter meeting. I didn't realize other chapters did that.

I know someone who had a pretty crazy roommate in college. The crazy chick would take scissors to her (as in not her own) jeans and cut them.

Sorority Sisters is written by Tajuana Butler (sp?). It is light reading but wasn't bad. I am not sure how accurate it is in its portrayal of the BGLO pledge process.

Siddons is a great writer. I don't think I've read a book of hers that I didn't like.
