Now I know wikipedia is edited by the users like you and me, so I don't depend on it for the MOST accurate information. However, some orgs like APO and APhiA have wonderful, thoroughly cited pages that I believe I can rely on.
That said, don't murder me for reporting this info, lol....
Wikipedia says that the late Octavia Butler is a Delta. Is this true? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor..._Theta_sisters
Just curious, because she is my favorite science-fiction novelist.

I'm waiting for "Kindred" to become a movie. I love that book.

[Hijack]Someone just told me about this book Saturday. I was so interested from her giving me the background that I said I wanted to read it as soon as she finished it. That's kinda amazing! [/Hijack]

One of my favorite professors at UNC-Charlotte, Dr. Sandra Govan and Octavia Butler were really close friends...Dr. Govan wrote one of my rec letters and teased me endlessly about her thinking I was a "GDI" like she is, so I would think she would have mentioned that her friend was a Delta...I'm going to send her an email and ask...will post the response as soon as I get it...

Wikeipedia is [u]not reliable[/]. It has Loretta Devineand other notables as (an) honorary soror(s). She is not listed as a HM in AKA books. I was under the impression that she pledged as an UG (not sure when UofH's chapter was chartered) @ UofH, her alma mater.

Epsilon Lambda was chartered in 1969. Loretta Divine (Waiting to Exhale, Boston Public) is a product of Epsilon Lambda. http://www.uhaka.com/history/chapter.html

Thanks!
Therefore, wikipedia is not a reliable source of information.

I agree.
When I was a neo, I created my chapter's website and my personal mission was to create a "Prominent Alphas" page that was thorough and inclusive, yet accurate.
I got on my regional listserv and asked for assistance, but I told Brothers that I would not include Brothers whose membership we couldn't verify.
So we had a lot of hurt feelings when I wouldn't list Tim Reid, Sr., but I listed Christopher Darden. But, as time went on, Bros understood why I couldn't count an appearance in a sweatshirt on "Sister, Sister" as the standard of verification.
I think the people working on Wikipedia have a good thing going and certain orgs have a better standard than others, but that's not a bad reflection on the org, just an indicator on which groups have the bigger open-source nerds, lol.

The one about Enjoying the Rewards from Heaven in 2007? I got it from my pastor. His theme for '07 is Tasting the Rewards from Heaven in 2007. You'd have to hear it in the context of his sermon to get that part, so I changed it to Enjoying the Rewards.
I'll go back to it after MLK and Founder's Day!

Please confirm this one!
There's an Atlanta magazine/newspaper, Rolling Out, that focuses on entertainment in Atlanta. To be brief, there was a paragraph mentioning the founding of Delta Sigma Theta. The last sentence gave names of notable members including Angela Bassett. I hadn't heard that one before, but I wanted to come to my knowledgeable researchers to be sure.
I did some Internet research and barely found anything.
Thanks in advance!
