Hmmmmmm. What if the (BIG) pushers and those making it ILLEGAL are one in the same?

If it helps the patients moreso than "traditional" means, them I'm for it.

For medicinal purposes, I think it should be legalized. It's a matter of controlling the substances from other people who aren't sick and in need of it. Maybe our local pharmacist will be our future drug pusher?

Why do "poor people's drugs" have larger jail sentences than "rich people's drugs"?

Who am I or the government to force a terminally ill person to deal with certain aspects of their illness--nausea, poor appetite, headaches--in the privacy of their own home for less money than separate pharmaceuticals for each symptom that would cost more? [/B][/QUOTE]

Many years ago,a dear friend died of AIDs related leukemia. When his illness was bad enough for him to be hospitalized,he would bring his marijuana into the hospital. The workers knew exactly what he was doing. That is one smell you cannot hide. The medical staff would tell him that he wasn't supposed to smoke in the hospital but never once tried to take it away from him. They knew it helped him to ease the pain he was in.Not that it makes a difference but it was a university hospital as well.

No.

From US Attorney Roscoe Howard and DOJ:

"Higher penalties for crack offenses appropriately reflect the greater harm posed by crack cocaine. We recognize that cocaine base -- crack -- and cocaine hydrochloride -- cocaine powder -- are chemically similar. Nonetheless, there are significant differences in the predominate manner the two substances are ingests and marketed. Based on these differences and the resulting harms to society, crack cocaine is an especially dangerous drug. Its traffickers should be subject to significantly higher penalties than traffickers of like amounts of cocaine powder."

When I was working in "drug court" the only drug that resulted in lesser penalties in some instances was marijuana. Of course, penalties also depend on how much you have and how it's packaged.
