If Toyota had a tech center in MN. I'd move back home. It's that bad, and it's so frustrating. I'm really getting tired of this broke, non-driving state. I really am.

I really do not experience what you do on the roads at all. Everywhere I go, people are going 10 over, unless it is rush hour stop n go traffic. I get ticked off when I'm going 80 or 85 in the fast lane and people are getting right up on my tail and flashing their lights. Sorry folks, you don't need to go more than 15 over and I'm not getting behind someone going 70 when I'm going 85.

I agree with the above POSTS (for preciousjenni), except that I find that the reality TV on cable is the worst. The network shows aren't nearly as bad. I think of Survivor and the Amazing Race more as game shows than reality shows, honestly.

Nah, these jokers are awful. It happens at least 5-6 times daily and everyday I'm on the road. Today I was going to Biggby on the corner of Novi and Grand River. I couldn't even get into the yellow left turn lane because some fool was also turning left going west blocking the entrance I wanted to turn into. He was supposed to move up towards the entrance he was going to be turning into. Damn fool! These jokers here get me hot around the collar every time, without fail. I've never used my horn in the other states I've lived in (seriously, no lie). I didn't start using it until I moved here. I've never wanted to move out of a state because of the driving. I really do wish Toyota would open a tech center in MN. I really, really do.

Maybe it's the teacher in me but I hate hearing/seeing a person refusing to set boundaries with their children and just allowing them to be a brat.

Ex: seeing a 4th grade-ish girl have this conversation with her mom in the school supply aisle of Target.

Kid: I want the glittery folders.
Mom: Oh honey, those are $4. I don't think so. These plain ones are $2.
Kid: Please!!!!!
Mom: No.
Kid: *tears* OMGGGGGGG. I hate you. You like never let me have anythinngggggggg.*stomp*
Mom: *sigh* okay.
Kid: Thanks mom!!!!

BWAHAHAHA! My soon to be 6 year old tries to pull this shit all the time. I tell her she can buy stuff with her own money, or ask Santa for it. Thankfully she never throws a "fit" but she does get whiny. The "LOOK" usually shuts her up. I can deal with the resulted sulking.

I love the fact that I have "the look." Not all women can do it effectively. I feel like I inherited some special, recessive trait.

I had to use it on a little boy this morning--he was being big stuff by cussing at church.

The smile fell off his face so fast, I thought it would hit the floor. I recognized him as the same little boy who flashed me at a church pool party this summer. He's about 6 or 7. I wish I knew his parents, but I always see him without them.

Not saying you need to beat your kid, yell at them, or anything crazy, but I get annoyed when people let kids have things after they said no before.

This one's a biggie for me. I was helping watch two children in church this morning. They're mischievous and will wait until they catch your eye before doing something they're not supposed to do. Mind you, they're only 13 months old.

In any case, my cutoff for that type of behavior is 9 months. After that, children know what they're doing by your look, tone and words. So, these children are well over the limit.

One of them went to pull a fire extinguisher from the wall, so I gently took her hand to turn her around, look her in the eye and tell her no, that's not to touch. Then, it was game time. After the first warning, I simply blocked her path to the fire extinguisher. She tried to push me, sneak around me and finally, when all else failed, she began to whine. When I stood my ground, she went off crying to her mother.

Two minutes later, she was back and wanted me to pick her up and cuddle. lol

I can't stand it when people will give kids things after another adult has already told them no.

It doesn't really matter if you agree or not--unless the first person has been totally unreasonable and is denying the child something they absolutely need, you should not undermine another adult. You just teach the child not to respect them and that isn't right. This is especially a problem when the kid learns to play one parent against another and they parent will let them, in an attempt to one-up the other.

Shortly after my divorce, my then 7 y/o daughter would start that. I would look at her and say "Do you remember who you're talking to? I am not your dad. The more you ask the more firm my "no" gets". And she would shape right up and giggle a little and say "It works with daddy".
