New PR chair looking for some ideas/advice :)
hi everyone!
so i'm the new PR chair for my sorority chapter, and i'm really looking to change the face of this position. in the past, this chairperson's sole duties involved interacting with other chapter's PR or philanthropy chairs only for their specific philanthropy events. however, i think PR should encompass more than this and was wondering if anyone had any interesting, fun, or innovative ideas that they could share with me to bolster the positive reception and good public relations of my sorority within our Greek community (in other words both fraternities AND sororities)? thanks for reading & for sharing

Maybe start a "wear your letters" day of the week? Or a signup list for all the intramural teams, etc. so your sorority always has a team? Getting the sisters involved with events on campus is key! Some PR Chairs take out space in the school newspaper to welcome new members or congratulate sisters with 4.0 gpas. Just a few ideas.

Maybe get together with your T-Shirt Chairwoman and come up with a PR Shirt. My chapter loves them. What I mean by PR shirt is having a shirt just about your sorority, one that uses your colors, logos, and messages that reflect what your chapter is about.
Nothing is better than being loved by another GLO, you would create posters saying (Your Sorority) loves (Sororities/Fraternities) and give it to them. That shows how much you care about great greek relations.

This semester as PR chair I started really pushing wearing letters to class as a group. Seeing 1 or 2 sisters in letters everyday doesn't stick in your mind as seeing 60 sisters on one day! I'm also encouraging girls to go to campus events in letters. I have a ton more ideas, so PM me if you're interested.

thanks so much everyone! i really appreciate the response & love the idea of designating a day each week for everyone to wear their letters b/c most of the time girls will just wear them consistently throughout greek week or the first week of school. surprisingly i never even thought of the idea of girls in the same class wearing their letters together so I will definitely do that as well!
xomanadaxo i will be in touch with you as well

with my chapter, we have a designated day to wear pin attire and another day to wear letters. it makes a really big impact on campus, because we always hear about how my sisters are everywhere! those are really great ideas to get yourselves out there and changing your image =]

I was PR chair before and we used to make posters/banners just advertising Phi Sig and hang them around campus. Our campus also has pillars you can paint, and this makes a great sisterhood, as well.
