what a shame that your roommate withdrew-you two could possibly have ended up as new members together.
good luck with your remaining parties.

At one point of the conversation, one of the girls told me that she knows that the chapter is small and that she knows that there are stereotypes about the chapter, but she also knows that the sisterhood that they have radiates and is something that she could never live without. She told me that she understands how I feel right now and wanted me to know that she felt like she already knew me becuase we had so much in common. Then she gave me a hug and then I felt it. I finally felt like I was falling in love with this chapter.
When I returned to my dorm and friends, they were talking about how they got various sororities and they were also talking about how the were not invited back to macaroni and cheese. And I was wondering why that could have been happening. I finally realized that despite what I said about keeping an open mind, I was the one being shallow minded. These sisters, weren't just inviting me back because they needed more members, they were inviting me back be they liked me and they connected with me. And this made my decision all the more easier.
Pref round is in two days, and I could have never been more sure.

Wow! It sounds like you had a fantastic time. Normally it's Pref that brings that kind of "this is it" moment when you're unsure. When do Pref invites go out- or do you already know? Good luck and I hope you get the mac & cheese pref invite along with an incredible time at Pref.
PS- if you haven't already, read my PM- I talked about your last point although I didn't know it would come to fruition so quickly

You are the second PNM in the last few days who has "figured it out", IMO. Despite all the "tent talk" and stereotypes, and the horrid, ugly, mean, nasty things that I've seen written on some of those gossip sites (one visit was enough, thank you, don't need to go back there, uh uh, no way), the bottom line is that each and every GLO is able to offer a meaningful lifetime connection to any PNM, IF you are willing to meet half way.
I want you to know that I consider myself fortunate to have friends from almost every sorority (not all, haven't met anyone from a few houses yet). It doesn't matter to them that I was an XYZ at QRS University. Who cares? What does matter is that we share a common Panhellenic bond, and a common experience, and common values. I've been able to help them along and they've been able to help me (my current work position came through a referral from a Kappa and an AChiO!). There are awesome women on these boards; I've been lucky enough to meet one face-to-face, and we're developing a friendship. I wasn't in her house, she wasn't in mine, but her people are my people, and vice versa.
Being open and willing to hold to the values and standards that our founders established has made all the difference.
I'm sending positive thoughts that you will be extended an invitation to Preference, and that you will find what so many of us have found through our Greek affiliations. All the best to you.

Today's Pref right??? So excited for you! I had a similar experience (you can read my story here) when I went through formal recruitment - PM me or IM me on this screen name on AIM, I'd be happy to tell you about my experience and lend an ear if you need it.
