I've been totally spoiled by the 16-plex because until recently I've never set foot in the Dollar Theater. The Boy had to drag me along because we've been broke as of late and he wanted to see a movie.

There's nothing more annoying than a mother who brings her tiny infant child (carrier and all), decides to sit in front of you, and baby proceeds to cry during the WHOLE MOVIE. Sure, it's a dollar to see the movie, but give me a break. They need to bring back that crying baby cartoon they used to show before the start of the movie.

Then you have the theater jumpers who show up 30 minutes before your movie's set to end because their movie just ended.

They have a butter dispenser so that people can pour their own butter, but it's pretty nasty.

The Dollar Theater has a "different" kind of atmosphere with "different" kinds of customers and I don't know if I'm okay with that. I guess I'm just a snob.

Our dollar theater is filthy gross and your feet always stick to the floor.

As for movie theater salt, our expensive theater (20 theaters, nice concessions but pricey) have all these different flavored toppings for popcorn now.. white cheddar, jalapeno, ranch.. on and on, in powder form, freely available to everybody. I love the white cheddar!

Here, too. Bring on the white cheddar!

Is there anything nastier than eating cheese popcorn and seeing orange yucky stuff on your fingers?

When I make popcorn at home, I sometimes put regular table salt on it. And it tastes good to me. The rest of the time I put parmasean cheese on it, which is better.

Some of the movie theatres up here now have special showings in the daytime (mornings and early afternoons) for moms with babies. They've been very popular - moms get to see the newest flicks and don't have to feel bad if the baby cries.

I think one or two over here have that too. If I'm not mistaken, it's the first showing of the day. Moms/parents without sitters need to watch movies too -- so I'm all for it.

As long as it's not when I'm at the theater.

This may be the first and last time I post this sentence--I totally agree with cheerfulgreek on this. One may quote this statement for posterity.

As for the whole "special salt" thing, it's good I guess, but for heaven's sake...

If you're talking about mircrowave popcorn, I don't use salt on that. I don't think it needs any. But then again I burn most of the popcorn I try to pop.

At some movie theaters I've been too, they've had the powdery salt in different flavors too. Yummy.

That's different. We need those kinds of theaters here.

o.k. nate...I won't call you Nathaniel anymore, but you have to stop being mean to me, like you've done on several threads that I've posted on. If not, then I'll continue to call you Nathaniel. It's your call. mkay?

Just an old man's $0.02 worth.
