you act like this is something new - chapters down here have had those for several years, someone just decided to make a company out of it.

Yeah, if these boards are 'watched' like many allude to, I hope someone takes note and rips the Alpha Gam licensing away -- at the VERY least, the crest, for goodness sake. That's just ridiculous, IMO.

I still can't get over the fact that they had the Canadian crest as well. I don't think too many vendors have the crest without the helmet.
At least they're thinking of our Canadian sisters!

I was about to say...
I'm pretty sure they sell those at one of our greek shops here.

I noticed that too. What is the significance of the difference between the American and Canadian bearings (if it's not ritual)?

I don't think it's ritual, I think it's just political. Since Canada is still under the crown, I think there's something about not being able to have the helmet in the crest due to something in British law or heraldry or something.

Ah, what better way to fellowship than a nice competitive game of beer pong?
"The Objects of Phi Kappa Sigma Fraternity shall be the promotion of good fellowship and the cultivation of the social virtues among our members; the protection of just rights and the advancement of the best interests, present and future, individual and collective, of all those who shall be associated together as members of this Fraternity; the encouragement of good scholarship and the breadth of training for our members; and cooperation in the educational and cultural programs of institutions of higher education in which our Chapters are located." -From the website.

Likewise, I was amazed that they had our Hand and Key. I don't think I've ever seen it on any item.

Yep! The helmet is reserved strictly for the sovereign, and that's why our Canadian sisters have the Armorial Bearings without it.
Emily Helen Butterfield was an expert on Heraldry. She really knew her stuff!

And this is how we honor her, her beloved crest on a friggin' ping pong ball...

I think you guys are all missing the point. The point is to buy the ping pong balls of your rival fraternity or sorority and smash the heck out of them in a rousing game of table tennis.

One of the things that's silly is the KAT & AGD balls that have the letters in pink. I mean, what is the point??? Pink has nothing to do with either of those groups...I guess it's just OMG PINK IZ CUTE FOR GIRLS!!!111!!!!
And DG, who DOES have pink in their colors, doesn't have the pink ones.
As usual, it's not so much the disrespect issue that galls me, it's the stupid marketing technique.
