I don't have a car payment since the car was purchased in full. My insurance runs me about $100 per month.

That sounds about right to me, though. When I was looking at a Celica (completely stripped of options) it was $350/month. And $214 considering sports car, fairly new, and I'm assuming you've had tickets and don't have any other things insured with the same company, sounds about right.

P.S.-One of the reasons my insurance is low is because I have renter's insurance on my apartment also through State Farm... My father pays $35/month on my Mom's 2000 VW Jetta b/c he has multiple cars. State Farm gives deductions for more than one insurance line under the same policy (household).

$262 a month for a black 2004 Dodge Neon. My parents pay my insurance because they paid my older sister's up until she got married (at age 35), so thank goodness for that. I'm trying to refinance and get my payments lowered, though...wish me luck.

Edited to add: My family does the State Farm thing, too--all four of our vehicles are insured with them, and we get some sort of discount.

Is that for the year or 6 months? Either way sounds like a great deal from GEICO who can usually be the most expensive behind Progressive.

2005 Honda Civic VP (that means value package ppl lol) its standard, cd player, and air conditioning... roll down windows, manual locks, nothing fancy (but the stereo is actually pretty good and it's a beast and I get 40 miles to a gallon)
I pay $250 a month, but usually there are late fees because I never have the money to pay it on time.
My insurance is like $250/ month.

Wow. I pay the car off in October @ $250/month (I've been overpaying, I think it's like $225/month).

My insurance is $67/month.

$50 a month for liability-only is cheap in some cases, but the OP didn't say that's what her quote was for. It all depends on...
  • Where she lives
  • What her driving record's like
  • What kind of coverage she's getting
  • Whether she has proof of prior (constant) coverage
Believe it or not that last one, even if you haven't owned a car before, makes a huge difference. It's just another excuse to gouge you because they can, but apparently people who haven't had constant car insurance are a higher risk, so most companies will charge more.
