Tattoo

I have been doing a little research on tattoos simply because I've thought about getting one more and more here lately. Have thought of and seen several different ideas, just wondering what the other brothers out there thought about tattoos.

I have found one in particular that I like, specifically because I am of Irish descent and it uses the Celtic Cross along with some other things that are both significant to me and the entire organization, as a matter of fact Jono may know the person that actually has this tattoo. (Kudos to the creator whomever he may be)

Would actually be on my back and not my shoulder if I got it

Anyway what are you guys thoughts on fraternity related tattoos?

Trey, I hope you choose a tatoo that not only represents your dedication to LXA, but also your individuality as a person.

My only advice to you was the advice Brian Setzer got from his dad on getting a tattoo.

"Never get a tattoo where a judge can see it."

Your Zeta number is 660? That's too bad. The guy who was 660 for our chapter was a total goofball.

Trey, make sure to go to a good artist.

He may be a little far away, but here in Mass. we have a really great one.

Check out his work: http://www.bigdogzink.com/chris2.html

Let me know what you think.

I would say about 80% of our actives and alumni have tattoo's. We have simple designs like mine which is a cross and crescent on my ankle, and then brothers with flaming deltas, lion holding white roses, and many many more. For a while everyone was getting the same tattoo which was the letters in Purple, Greek and Gold about Calf high on their leg and underneath they would have Delta Phi and their I Number. Then others would put in what they wanted between the zeta and their number; cross and crescents, lamps, etc. It was pretty cool to see groups of guys all with the same tattoo showing not only dedication to the fraternity that has changed out lives, but the brothers who have as well.

But what if . . .

But what if we expell a tattoo sporting Brother? How do we return THAT to Indianapolis?

That's my only reservation re a fraternity tat.

Brother John,

It is a simple problem with a simple solution.

Have the member in question put an "* Expelled" next to his Zeta number.

No longer a problem.

Good night and thank you very much.

Yours in ZAX,

Mike, "No Tattoo For Now," Raymond

I must say I like Brother Mike's response.....it really made me crack a smile.

I like to think of myself as an upstanding.....life-long brother.......but as well all know anything can happen!!!!!! Just look at our founder (how dare they expel him).

True Trey!

But alas, times have changed and tempers were cooled and He was placed back where He should have been in a place of honor and found.

Well as Brother Mike said, He was never lost, he was where he had been for years!

This was exactly the reason we always recommended that our fellow undergrads NOT get tattoos. We suggested everyone wait until their graduation. That way, there's not real risk of expelling a brother with a tattoo. Plus, it makes a great graduation gift!

I wonder how the tattoos my brothers at Zeta Epsilon got about 12 years ago look now. They wanted me to get one, but I've never been one for tattoos.

I did think it was really great when I was an active and we had an active vs. alumni football game and one of the alumni had a cross & crescent tattoo that he'd had for at least 10 years. I always was amazed to think that there were brothers from my same chapter who had graduated decades before me.

Wow... I bet the current guys would see me as an old man now.
