Rush: lessons learned
After reading posts regarding rush, here's what my daughter and I learned from the entire process.
- Read Greek chat forums - very helpful.
- As stated all over - really, really have an open mind going into rush.
- Don't, do not! fall in love with one house on the first day!
- If you get a 'good vibe' from a house, even if you don't like it's colors, mascot whatever, Follow your gut!
- The house you rank low may indeed LOVE you! Give them a chance!
- Don't listen to how your rush group ranks/discusses the houses. But do pay attention if everyone around seems to like the same house. Remember if everyone puts house 'A' on their list the odds get smaller...
- Never be disappointed with the invites you get - remember they are INVITING you! Be thrilled that they chose you!
- Perf night - remember these invites are very special. These houses really like you! Try looking at each house from a new perspective when you go to the parties. My daughter was excited that girls remembered her!
- Final rank: remember to follow your gut/heart. Come bid day one of your perf night houses could be your new sorority.
_Bid day - Call your mom right away with the big news. Lord knows we've been praying!
most of all - enjoy the process. Crazy and fun besides what better way to keep your mother up all night!
