Alice in Wonderland

I did a search and nothing turned up.

I'm surprised a thread wasn't started on this.

I actually enjoyed Alice in Wonderland. Amazing special effects. I thought it was good entertainment, but that is why I go to the movies.

I thought Johnny Depp was funny as The Mad Hatter and enjoyed Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen. Jury is still out on Anne Hathaway as the White Queen. Speaking of her what was with her arms always being "up" (if that makes sense).

The actress who plays Alice (whatever her name is) did a good job as well.

I also really liked the soundtrack and bought it on Itunes when I got home.

I liked it as well, but it def wasnt as good as I was expecting. I think The White Queen is portrayed as the sweet, airy, innocent sister and since she acted to delicate maybe that is why she walked around with her arms like that lol.

I wasn't so impressed and thought the 3D was distracting. My husband, having seen Avatar, was really struck at the difference between a movie shot in 3D versus this movie converted to 3D. I did like Helena Bonham-Carter (but I think she always does a good job.) Anne Hathaway was terrible and looked terrible with her black eyebrows and lipstick. I agree with ASUADPi with her arms being up all the time seeming odd. It also irritated me that it was "against her religion" to kill anything, but it was okay to have someone else do it for you. Isn't that like paying a hit man? You're still a killer! Ha! Anyway, I'm a lifelong "Alice in Wonderland" fan so I enjoyed many parts despite all of this.

Did you request a Tron remake? If so, I'm mad at you. They better not ruin one of my favorite movies from my childhood.

Great cinematography, disappointing film overall. Definitely not for adults.

Really? I totally thought it was way to adult for children. I saw a mom bring her like 2-3 year old (which I was like, good luck having him sit through the whole movie), but I thought it was "too much" for children under the age of maybe 10. But that's just my opinion.

I thought the special effects were great but the the rest of the film was lacking. I'd say wait until it comes out on DVD or cable.

It was "against her nature" to harm anything, not her religion (slightly different). Her black lipstick definitely was distracting, though. And holding her arms like that made her look like she was getting arrested....the whole movie.

It felt so unoriginal. I mean, there were some good points - I always enjoy Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway (even with the "arrested" arms). But the whole "rallying a leader to destroy the bad" felt so done and with Absolem being the voice of Snape, it felt very HP. Alice saying goodbye to the Mad Hatter felt like Dorothy parting with the Scarecrow. Alice looking out from the White Queen's terrace looked like the Pevensie's marveling at the beauty of Narnia. Just everything about the movie reminded me of a scene from something else.

I disagree. She made a comment that she vowed to never hurt a living creature. And even if it is against her nature to harm another, wouldn't that translate to asking someone else to harm another?

I agree. I had a 3 year old sitting next to me (not mine or with me) and he lasted 5 minutes before he spent the rest of the time squirming.

I was bored, to be honest. I like the cast and director in almost everything else they have done, but in this movie, I felt like they were all missing something. If I had rented it, I would have paused it in the middle to get some house work done and then gone back to it just to see how it ended.

No, not to me. I didn't get super deep with it, though, but I suppose there are lots of people who would never kill another person but would have no problem turning them over to the police who would give them the death penalty. I suppose it's like that. But it really wasn't that serious, she didn't ask anyone to get hurt, did she? She handcuffed the two together and banished them. I remember the knight trying to kill the Red Queen but not on the White Queen's orders.
