Red face I NEED ADVICE!! PLEASE!!!

I go to a small school and there are only 5 sororities. DZ, KD, DG, Theta Phi, and Phi Sig. I did fall recruitment and ended up leaving early because i felt really pressured and unsure of what i wanted. plus i had my heart set on one sorority i didnt get an invite to the next round from. I had my heart set on that one and wasn't ready to make a decision about a sorority i wasnt even considering. With all that being said, i really wish i had taken a bid from the other sorority. This campus is very greek oriented. everyone is greek. I want to make more friends and it seems the only answer is greek. Only two sororities are doing spring recruitment and i'm not sure if i'd be happy at either of them. The girls were nice but idk how much we actually had in common. Should i wait til fall again and try for the sororities i wanted or settle for one of the other two? I'm not a snob i just want to make sure i'm happy. Also I think a big factor in not getting my invite for the next round was my GPA in high school. I was really sick my senior year and had to school from the hospital most of the year. This year so far I have a 3.933. When checking GPA during recruitment as a sophomore, do they check high school or just college? if its just college i feel like i would do much better. I know this a lot of random info i just really need help. spring recruitment for one of the sororities i didnt absolutlely love is tonight and i cant decide if i should go.

Thanks!!!

So is it because you were sick last year, or because your GPA sucked, or because your favorite dropped you and you didn't like who still wanted you back, or what?

Did you actually get a bid from the sorority?

Which round did you drop out from?

What was your HS GPA?

How did you know that you absolutely loved one sorority if you didn't give the others a chance? You said that you weren't even considering the other sororities. Why not? That is the purpose of recruitment - to CONSIDER ALL CHAPTERS PARTICIPATING.

Yes, do you come off like a snob, because you wouldn't give everyone an equal chance. What is different this time around (other than your GPA) that you think that going through recruitment again will earn you a bid to your "favorite" sorority?

I can understand not being open to all chapters at a school, I only wanted to join the best chapter at my school and if I didn't I knew I didn't want to go Greek. I think that's part of the problem a lot of people have, if they don't get a bid from the top chapter they aren't willing to not go Greek at all

its not that i didnt consider every chapter. that was poor word choice. i considered every chapter when i got there, but after spending 3 nights with every chapter it was clear to me that two of them were a good fit for me. i felt uncomfortable in the other chapters and the conversations were awkward. i got along instantly in two of the other chapters. and i left on pref night. and my HS GPA was 3.3. And no offense, but you are a bit judgmental for someone calling me a snob. Take your own advice and give everyone a chance.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that LXA mandated sex change operations and have fully switched to the NPC.

This isn't how NPC formal recruitment works. Step away from the thread.

Its a sentiment that applies to everyone regardless of gender. If you want to be in "the best" GLO you need to be willing to not go Greek if you don't get a bid to that GLO. I'm not willing to step down if I don't get my top choice, I'd rather not go Greek.

So OP, if you think you're going to have a better fit in the fall I'd rush fall since you have more options

If I was cut from my top choice, I'd drop out of recruitment. When i had to list my top choices, I would only list one choice. The concept applies

Dude, shut the hell up.

As the previous posters said -- this is not how NPC recruitment works.

And a sophomore at a highly competitive school does not have more options.

Thats awesome! Its really great you're open to everything, so it seems that fall recruitment is better. I assume formal is in the fall? and its just COB/informal in the spring?

Best of luck! If you keep those grades I'm sure you'll have a lot more options

No, it really doesn't. Depending on how competitive this school is, a sophmore may not have more options.

No, it really doesn't. How do I say this gently? Shut up or die in a fire.

Stop giving advice on NPC recruitment, dude. I mean, seriously. You have absolutely no concept of how it even works.

I swear to God - there should be a test. "Explain how RFM works without copy/pasting someone else's response prior to giving out formal recruitment advice for NPC chapters" should work.

Please read what I write fully. I'm not talking about the ins and outs of recruitment. I'm just saying that if I was cut from my top choice, I would drop out of formal recruitment. I'd rather not be Greek than be in a lower chapter.

The chapter I want or GDI. If I can't be there, I'll drop out of recruitment. There's nothing wrong with that

There's a lot wrong with it, actually. If you don't understand the ins and outs, you're not qualified to give any advice, no matter how general.

Although, I don't know why I'm wasting my time explaining this to you because you've been told before. It's becoming increasingly obvious to me that a requirement for your membership was some sort of frontal lobotomy.

I think 408/Phi_Delta is back with more wisdom.
