sigh: my daughter was kicked out of her chapter

If a girl is kicked out of her sorority because she had a boy in her room, staying with her at night on one particular night, and her room mate went and told on her..is this permanent? Does she have a chance of getting her membership back? She was living in the sorority house at the time and the boy who snuck in to stay with her was her boyfriend of about two years. I do not at all approve of her actions, but I feel like her punishment was very harsh. Is anyone familiar with policies concerning this or know of anyone being accepted back into their sisterhood after a situation like this?
Thanks!

I don't think anyone here would be able to comment without knowing more about the situation/organization/etc. But generally, I've heard of girls getting their membership revoked in different organizations for a variety of reasons and it was always permanent.

My advice? Let your daughter handle it and stay out of it.

I can't really comment on this because every sorority has different policies.

I WILL say that, it is considered HIGHLY inappropriate for a sorority member OR her parent to post publicly about what is presumed to be private disciplinary info. What happens with a sorority and member discipline is meant to stay WITHIN that chapter, and is CERTAINLY not for member's parents to post about publicly.

I would be MORTIFIED if I knew that my mother were posting about this sort of thing on the internet when it is MY private business.

I can also tell you that depending on the sorority, her termination is permanent.

My advice: Delete your post, and leave sorority punishments and other sorority related situations for your DAUGHTER to figure out.

I apologize for the size and how it might screw up some screens, but it was too funny not to post.

If I were in her daughter's situation, knowing my mom, getting me back into the sorority would be the last thing on her priority list. I'd be lucky if she and I were still on speaking terms.

Isn't OTW always the queen of GC?

And I think my favorite part is her signing off as "let-down mom". Way to make it all about YOU, mommy!

I would be totally mortified if I knew that my mom were posting about my sorority business (punishments and such) on a PUBLIC website.

It's just completely inappropriate for someone to do that.

If I had to hazard a guess, I bet the daughter's a legacy and Mom is just MORTIFIED that her baby is no longer an XYZ.

In pain? It was of her own doing. She knew the rules, she made a choice to break them. Your pain should be eased by knowing that your daughter is getting a life lesson in the consequences of breaking rules.

And if she did get "kicked out" for this offense, it likely wasn't her first time breaking the rules, or there may be more to the story than what you know. Sororities aren't in the habit of kicking out our members for every rule violation.
