So, What are the Kids Wearing These Days?
When I joined GreekChat in 2001, the typical sorority girl outfit consisted of things like this:

The ubiquitous "Return to Tiffany" bracelet (wow, that's pretty ugly now that I look back at it)

The Kate Spade microfiber bag; preferably the boxy one with the flap that came over the top. Yes, I had one. Not sure where it went, though. I think I may have forced it on kddani when she was in law school and we were at a GC gathering.

Long, unlayered hair flat ironed within an inch of its life

Those black, stretchy pants that weren't quite leggings. Known as "bitch pants" or "sorority girl pants"
Does anyone else even remember these things? LOL So, what is it that every sorority girl needs here in 2011?

"Frat tanks" God help us all.
I showed my mom a picture of my whole chapter + new members on bid day and she said we looked like a swim team. We were wearing black frat tanks and shorts. Most of us had sunglasses on, too. She was right.

I was just lamenting over the black stretchy pants the other day. I so miss those. They were perfect for college!
Nowadays it's all about the "jeggins" which aren't half bad. The ones from Express feel like pajamas, they are so soft!

Frat tank:
It's an oversized tank that is not fitted at all, unflattering to most body types lol

In California frat tanks (and oversized tees) with Norts (nike running shorts) were very popular a year or so ago. I know from friends who go to SEC schools they're quite popular there as well.
In winter it was leggings.

I was in college 2003-2007.
North Face fleece jacket
black leggings
Uggs
Vera Bradley/Vineyard Vines/lettered tote
Tiffany jewelry
I may have been oblivious, but I don't think Lilly really caught on at UMD until after I graduated.

^^^Same for me (2002-2006.) That's still pretty accurate here except for the Tiffany jewelry part. Northface/Uggs/tote.
Letter shirts have changed a little since then. When I was active it was the block letters on the 3/4 sleeve baseball tee, now it's the v-neck with 3/4 sleeve.

My daughter was in college from 06-10. The girls dressed VERY preppy: Lily Pulitzer, Vera Bradley, Sperrys, Vineyard Vines clothes and tote bags, North Face, etc . The men also tended to dress in very classic styles. Not a lot of jeans were worn at this school by either sex. I saw very few stitched letter shirts, instead tons of t- shirts to commemorate major school events as well as epic social events that were put on annually by the same group each time ie Christmas in the Country party was always hosted at XYZ.
My youngest is now a senior so we have been visiting colleges left and right over the last couple of years. Several seemed to have the identical dress code as his sister's university. It could be because these are all southern schools.

I'm a high schooler (as you know), and these are a few samples from my unofficial school uniform:
Girls love their booty shorts...
...or Victoria's Secret yoga pants (despite the fact that they're clearly not headed to a yoga class) that show of those sexy camel toes and panty lines... .
On top, they act as walking advertisements by wearing fitted logo-tees that are made in Taiwan and sold for $20 more than they're worth. The shirts are artfully arranged to show off the maximum amount of cleavage and belly that the relatively modest shirt allows.
Ugg-ly as they are, Ugg boots are incredibly comfortable.
In an effort to make themselves look as unappealing as possible, they cake on their CoverGirl foundation and line their eyes heavily. As far as hair goes, they love to straighten their hair until it's practically burned off or do the absolutely disgusting and wet-looking "scrunched" hair style.

^^^^About the shorts, my brother is a HS junior. I recently went to one of his football games (this is October in Ohio) and I was really surprised by the length of some of the girl's shorts.
This is not me trying to be all "these young kids need to get off my lawn" because I'm not THAT old (just 26) and I have worn short shorts before, but I wore them to the beach, and they still covered the "cheeks."
If I can see the inside of your pocket dangling out of the front of your shorts, they're not shorts, hun. They're undies.
