I just finished making a pillow for a new Theta. A tone-on tone 1/8" striped black (home decorater weight) was used for the body of the pillow. The coordinates are a yellow quilting cotton with tiny markings of white and black and a thick white twill (so the black doesn't show from behind).
I appliqued block letters on one side centered left and right but skewed to the top so there is room for a monogram on the bottom. The other side has a flying kite with a tail. The same yellow fabric was used foreground of the letters, the kite, the bows on the tail, and the piping around the perimeter of the pillow. All applique is satin-stitched and the strings for the kite were hand-embroidered. There is a zipper on the bottom so that the insert can be removed if the cover needs to be cleaned.
Usually when I make these pillows, I put the college logo on the reverse side but in this case, the fraternity symbol was used.
