Hi all!
One of my very best friends has been struggling for years to find happiness and career satisfaction.
He's 34 and miserable. His academic and professional background is in computer engineering, project management and consulting. As a much younger man, what he really wanted to do was be a pilot.
He looked into military service when he was younger, but wasn't qualified due to not having perfect eyesight. However, he didn't know that commercial pilots could have corrected eyesight.
He says that it would cost him $100,000 to complete the full commercial pilot training if he did it on his own (without military service).
He's British and currently lives in the UK; so, I understand that there are different regulations.
Anyone have any ideas on how he could pursue his dream without being in the military and without necessarily having to do $100k commercial pilot training?
One of my ideas was to possibly consider a less expensive training that could qualify him to fly smaller executive jets. Or, possibly, to accept a non-flying job in the aerospace/airline industry.
Any ideas?
