Formal Recruitment help
My roommate is the Recruitment chair for my chapter. We are supposed to have a couple banners hanging on the wall for our parties. What would be a good material to make them out of? We're going for around 5 feet by 4 feet.
Thank you so much for your help!

Y'all don't make banners like...every day?
I'm pretty sure most sororities at the U have a "Banner Chair"

No. Our school is in northern missouri. And its not a very big greek school. The tarp would be good, but i think that may be too expensive for us.
Thank you so much for the help everyone!

White sheet?
Shower curtain liner?

If you're really in a budget crunch, then slit open paper grocery bags...trim them into rectangles or squares, iron them gently using a LOW iron, then tape them together across the back side...there's your banner...then use pretty-colored paint or markers to make them cute...doesn't even matter if the background is brown if you add enough color! It will look particularly cute if you paint/draw a border around the whole thing in a nice color!
Good luck!

At teacher supply stores, they sell the thick paper that teachers use for bulletin boards. Back in my RA days, I'd get that all the time for the bulletin boards in my hall & it comes in just about every possible color you can think of. It's also really inexpensive... 'cause if it wasn't, then I would have used the crappy paper that the hall director made available to us
That paper is really good for banners/signs.

We use a lot of sheets and they end up looking amazing. We have a welcome new students banner out front and I thought we bought it because it looked so nice. and because I'm apparently retarded.

I second the idea to get white sheets. At UCF, the area hotels will sell older white hotel sheets they are getting rid of to the sororities and fraternities for pennies that are then used for banners.
Create your banner design, and then put it on an overhead projector. Hang the sheet on a wall and trace the pattern onto the sheet from the overhead projector. Take the sheet down and paint it. The results come out looking amazingly professional.
This is a fairly inexpensive solution. Hope this helps!

No matter what route you decide to go, I second the design & trace idea adpiucf mentioned! It works on just about every type of "canvas" you decide to use.

I think my sorority bought white sheets in bulk - our advisors made a yearly run to Sam's Club or Costco or something and got them for us. We used them constantly not only to make banners but for various purposes in recruitment, etc.
We definitely had a banner chair also. With her own whole committee.

Here you go. Any color of tarp that you need: http://www.tarpfactoryoutlet.com/hmp...tarps_main.htm
These are more suited for outside a house

Our school is big with the white sheet banners....
I might would even check with your Student Activities office to see if they have any of the plain white banners to sell or get rid of....
White sheets make for fun banner making...it looks so 80s...

First, I'd say that NW has a large and active Greek life scene for a small D2 school but ...
Considering the recent turn to no frills (oh how I miss "frilly" rush) and your low budget (what, something like $55 per day?) you should take a cue from Greek Week and use the sheet idea but be sure to check out the thrift stores for $0.50 sheets. I wouldn't suggest stealing from the RA because EVERYTHING, including banners and charts must have receipts.
