LSU Rush
Rush starts at LSU today. I have a friend whose daughter is rushing. I'm not familiar with their Greek system. Does anyone have any insight? LSU Moms, keep us posted on rush this week.

LSU recruitment
Recruitment is very large at LSU, as it is with most SEC schools. I was there last year. Sorority row is quite impressive, and it looks like all groups there have large numbers.
I think it is very important for all PNMs to go into recruitment at schools like this with open minds. All of the sororities on campus at LSU are strong nationally and have lots to offer every woman.

LSU recruitment
I have seen nothing updated about LSU recruitment. What is going on???
It is such a strong Greek campus that we should all be talking about it!

You know, in the years I've been on here, discussion on LSU recruitment has always been few and far between. Sure, we've had PNMs and moms (most notably justamom for all you old timers) come here and share their stories with us, but they're not so much in the GC spotlight like 'Bama, UGA, Auburn, Florida, etc.

This is totally true, and I've always wondered why.
I had a bunch of chapter sisters from Louisiana and I always enjoyed hearing their moms' LSU rush stories.

I wrote a rec for a young lady going through recruitment at LSU. The only feedback I've heard is that she likes all the chapters except for one, because "they are too pink for me." Even funnier because this sorority's colors do not include pink. Can't wait to see where she ends up!

I wrote five recs this year for LSU pnms. I am hearing back from one pnm who is doing well and attending the max number of parties today...five.
She is so intent on finding the best place for her. She has been cut by a few but she is not complaining...only concentrating on those that have invited her back. What a great attitude! Any of the remaining five sororities is lucky to have her. All excellent choices.
I don't want to burden her with too many questions right now. I only want her to stay positive and keep her focus where it should be.

My daughter is going through rush this week at LSU. There were 887 total pnms who registered for recruitment. Of these an astounding 699 were legacies. At the parent meeting they said that quota would be between 73 and 85.
My daughter's experience has been positive. She is attending the maximum of 5 parties today. Her roommate, however, was not invited back by all but 2 of the 10 sororities after the first party including the chapter of which she was a legacy. She was released by the remaining 2 chapters after the second party. Tears were shed.

Great for your daughter!!! but, so sad about daughter's roommate. Last year, my best friend's daughter also had a great rush, but roommate did not, dropping out before the end. It was a bummer because my friend's daughter was so concerned about her roommate, that it took some of the shine off of her experience.

My heart goes out to her roommate, it breaks my heart and I don't even know the girl as she was a potluck roommate. I just passed this story along to demonstrate that LSU rush can be brutal. You are right about it being awkward now, trying to hide your excitement while trying to be compassionate at the same time.

699 legacies out of 887 PNMs? Wow. I know that there are usually a lot of legacies going through recruitment at SEC schools, that number still shocked me a bit.
At any rate, best of luck to all the PNMs on Bid Day!
