Parents Clubs?
Do any of your chapters out there have a Parents Club or anything like that? My chapter is considering trying to start a Parents Club, but we're not really sure how to go about it as far as the structure, organization, dues, leaders, etc.
Any ideas or stories to share would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks!

Hi there!
Well I know that DDD has a mother sorority, the Tri Psi's and it is for all mothers of Tri Delts who never had the chance to be in a sorority, experience it first hand, it has its own charter and initiation, its awesome. They get together and have meetings, like in Toronto, they meet about 1 a month and they have garage sales to raise money for us.. they have scholarships and give us christmas presents for the house .. it is so great.. You might want to call up our National and learn more about it!

Zeta Tau Alpha has Parents Clubs and each chapter should have a copy of the Manual for Parents Clubs. If you have a ZTA chapter on your campus, ask about it. I'm sure they would love to help you set up a club of your own.
Doesn't Pike National's have such a program in place and can provide you with materials? Have you contacted your province/district officials?

AOTT at my school(Elon University, NC) had a parents club through our alumni association. They would send out a little newsletter on what AOTT was to all the new member parents and also we had a parents council chair within AOTT that planned activities for parents weekend and our annual mother/daughter lunch. I think it really gave mom's and dads a chance to see what their daughters were doing!

We as a Chapter do not have a parents club, which is something that we are missing!!
I know I drove down one weekend to work on our annex house and while I took a break to get something to eat since i was the only one there, I was sitting ont the deck eating!
Across the street is the SPE house and they had a great gathering of parents! Come to find out one of My Brothers was there for his son who went SPE. As we are mature, I could not see that far and neither could he! Hell to be within 300 feet of each other and not know it!
I was really impressed with what they did and how and what their Parents Org. did.
It is Great to get Parents into the group so they can see that their and daughter are going the sinful path of Greekdom!! They find out Da hey this AINT bad!

Our chapter has a mother's club. I'm not sure how often they meet but local and our of town mothers all join, the officers are usually local though. The out of town mothers also join and pay a higher amt since the local moms are expected to help us through out the year. The mother's club provides food for open house, our christmas dinner, snacks during greek show practice, presents for the house at christmas, presents for the seniors and organize a wonderful mother/daugher banquet. We used to have a Daddy/Daughter Day but that has turned into a Family Day in the fall! It is scheduled for the same day as the University's open house (and our own open house). We have BBQ at the football pavilion before the game!

I posted something in the Greek Life forum about this but if any of you can give me ideas on how the parents club is organized (ie officers, dues, etc) that would be great!

If a Soror's mother doesn't have a college degree and isn't a student she can become an Amicae (friend) of the Sorority.

We have the same in SGR, we call ours Philo. Each alumnae chapter can sponsor their own Philo group. They have their own officers on the local, regional and national levels. They can also have their own fundraisers to support themselves and the alumnae chapter.

We have a Parent's club, kinda. I don't think it is actually organized in any way and doesn't even hold meetings. Our Parent's Club Liason gathers everyone's parent's information and sends out a newsletter every month or so. He also organizes Parent's Day and Parent's Work Day. PWD is either a day or weekend when our parents come down and help fix up the house or build something for the house. One year, we built stadium seating for the couches in the TV room.
